I've just seen Ahnald's video and from the way the testers described this, this will nerf us F2P players into the ground. If this goes through with the current GAC matchmaking mess, where I regularly have to face characters more relic'd up than mine at like 4mil, 5 mil GP differences, this will absolutely annihilate my crystal income. So yeah, there's a "playstyle" change...
I was absolutely excited for the new era and I've regularly been spending on episode passes and conquests cause they actually felt worth it, but if this goes through... I don't see myself returning until this feature goes away. Just what would be the point in seeing all of my teams get obliterated in all my GAC's, TW's, and Conquests, simply because I can't spend a ridiculous amount of money to relic them to R8 or R9??? I would have more fun watching paint dry at that point.
If you want to make Relic 7, 8, or 9 investments more impactful, give characters some sort of " relic cards" that players can apply to give them a new, or reworked unique ability, which you can apply at relic 7 or up to change up their kit - or do some sort of rare "mod booster" which you can obtain from certain events that can scale specific stats from mods based on the character's relic level. Don't outright nerf lower tier characters though.
