A few observations:
Until this comes out, all any of you are doing is speculating. To be fair, I did see a streamer (Pico?) say something along the lines of "I'm gonna take CG at their word", which might make sense in a vacuum, but so many things lately (Baylan, P1, ABs, etc.) make that extremely difficult.
I wonder if CG/EA is taking the current state of the world economy, inflation, etc. into account when they think people can afford to spend more. To be fair, said inflation may be what's driving the increased monetization lately.
Celiac Sarah pointed out that these types of changes take months and months of work. I think that's a good point. They didn't just come up with all this stuff this week or on a whim. While I still think they do release a quick LSB or something to distract from bad things going on, for all we know CG plans on addressing every bit of what's making everyone mad, but just haven't gotten to it or finished fixes yet. They've been releasing content super-fast lately, and still had time to work on this wall of text update alongside all of it. They may well be working on fixing TW or GAC next, alongside a Baylan upgrade or fleet situation fix, etc. This community tends to make a ton of negative assumptions.
Speaking of releasing new stuff so fast (and possibly even faster moving forward):
One, I assume most of us are having serious trouble if we're trying to keep up in the least bit, much less catch up old stuff. Hopefully most of this comment section is wrong and we'll see a net increase in tools to do so. I'm as skeptical as the next guy, but again, we won't know until we see it.
Two, it IS a little wild to me that we play a 9 year old game where tons of work is being done, and we're complaining about how much new stuff they're giving us. Obviously, that's ignoring a lot of variables, but it's still funny to think about if you're able to take a step back.
Final thoughts (I think): CG is a business. They're obviously trying to make money primarily. How they go about doing so may be in question, but a lot of people seem to ignore (especially with the stop spending comments) that the spenders keep the game alive. If we all "close our wallets" (that'll show em...), do you guys really think they're gonna be all sad and keep going not making any money? They're just gonna move on to the next thing, and we're all finding something else to do. I assume most of us don't want the game to die. Also, people seem to think that other people who spend a lot of money shouldn't get anything cool out of it (why don't I get all that too???). I really think everyone just needs to take a step back, take a deep breath, and relax a bit, at the very least, until we see the numbers on the new stuff and how it's all gonna play out.
Closing disclaimer: All this is more or less me playing devil's advocate. While I do think folks need to relax, I could likely rip most of my above points to shreds. This is a far more reasonable (positive?) post than you'll normally ever see from me. Have a nice day.
