I appreciate the considerations of options and being more transparent about the options, but it seems like this would have been better thought out involving the community and their ideas sooner. A lot of what I'm reading here is "we thought of this idea a year ago and decided to invest too much into it to reverse course".
I've been playing this game since it released as primarily f2p and any materials I've ever had for r8-9 have been used 100% towards GL/journey requirements and RotE platoon requirements. I haven't been able to r8-9 a single character or team for fun or just to try them out for fear of being affected by the newest meta for a long time. The resources are just too scarce to come by, and this delta is going to further reward people who are consistently able to r9 the latest and greatest teams + their meta datacrons, which will make them near impossible to defeat in PVP matches without somehow finding a way to match their strength from my teams. But if I'm unable to r8-9 as quickly I'm going to lose out on those rewards in the mean time, and by the time i "catch up" there are new metas to chase.
Rather than fix problems the players are asking to be solved, like TW updates or the recently introduced lag in the shop, you introduce a "solution" that hurts anyone who can't afford to r9 teams right when they release. I enjoy this game and I'm willing to give this new idea a shot, but all these new changes are just adding a wealth gap to the matchmaking to further reward those who can afford the new things.
