Blog Post
I'm sorry you have a bunch of trolls/impatient stubborn people in this comment section. This post was very refreshing and enlightening, and I feel much much better about the planned changes than I did.
One thing I saw brought up that I'm curious about is: if the level delta works so well, why not just increase the level cap with certain requirements? Is it just because the current level delta only affects 1-3 effects?
I was never planning on quitting, but this puts me solidly in the "staying" camp, rather than inching towards the fence the closer this change came.
1 request: please update TW. Y'all probably talk about this, but I have ideas I'd like to share:
• New Planets with lore-based bonuses for defense/offense. Could have a random or a set rotation game-wide, or just have the game roll some sort of dice that chooses a planet for each match-up (1 war could be on Kashyyyk for 2 guilds while at the same time 2 other guilds are on Jakku. This would probably be way harder to implement but just an idea that would make things incredibly dynamic)
• have a coin flip to determine which guild is which faction (LS/DS). This would allow for strategy as far as which squads you set on defense and which ones you bring with you to offense. Maybe a certain empire squad does super well on defense and you set only that squad in a zone while saving other more offensive squads for offense, or maybe there are so many counter-play options that you need to set a variety of squads.
• take the current map, Jakku, as an example. Dark Side would get bonuses for setting empire in certain zones, first order in others, Scoundrels in others, etc. Light Side would be the same but for Rebels, etc. (you get the picture). Have offensive bonuses for using Rebels against empire, for example. Allow for setting any squads you want still, but make the bonuses so enticing and advantageous that guilds are incentivized to engage. This would encourage investment in certain factions and could put pressure on players to further horizontally expand their rosters, which introduces an incentive to spend if they don't already have these factions up and running.
• obviously this would affect datacrons, so idk if they could work in this framework as I haven't thought through that much.
• consider this idea like taking a planet from ROTE and zooming in on it. You make it more dynamic, more strategic, and more incentivizing for the guild to build in certain directions. Plus, you can always introduce another planet to emphasize a new/different faction or even a different squad (A certain clone squad performs better on Kamino than on, say, felucia, even though both have Galactic Republic focus).
• TW could turn into one of your most popular game modes; there's a lot of potential.
