The word 'invest' (investing, investment, etc...) appears in the original post 17 times.
The word 'fun' appears in this post once, and the context is: "...the more you can build your game to have scalable systems, the easier it is to maintain and make more fun stuff for players."
This change isn't about making a game that's fun for your players - it's about maximizing the investment that players will make in the game by creating a massive power disparity between the players who whale and those who don't. This change isn't for the players. It's about creating an evergreen resource sink (Relic Delta) that forces investment into older characters and new ones without requiring a complete content overhaul every few months, years, etc... I'm not a whale. At best I'm a dolphin. But there's no point any more... The core of the issue is that this change systematically eliminates skill-based counter-play in the name of 'protecting investment.' Relic Delta acts as a hard gate, ensuring that the power difference (the delta) is too large to overcome with superior squad composition or strategy alone. If you think that means players are going to pay more to be more competitive, then good luck with that. As far as I'm concerned it's back to F2P to see if the game is going to be worth playing as it pivots away from a more balanced competitive experience and focuses solely on maximizing revenue from its highest-spending customers. Maybe it's a winning strategy from a monetization standpoint since the whales might try to out whale each other, but it's definitely not a winning strategy for the rest of us.
