Thank you for this post. I appreciate the thoughtful reply providing the rationale behind relic delta.
First off, I like the idea to make relic 9 easier to achieve with it being added to the Scavenger and increasing Signal Data yields or drop rates in cantina and rewards in various PVP and PVE modes.
I also appreciate the implementation of a new upgrade material that does not use as much resources and an entirely different resource to upgrade lower relic levels.
I am still opposed to relic delta given the initial reasons presented:
The power differential is far too large to provide balancing for free to play accounts and lower relic teams that have strategic viability currently to match up against maxed out accounts or accounts with hoarded resources. I think that maxed out accounts should not have trouble against F2P or lower relic teams if they know the game strategy and modding. I think players with higher relics should not be rewarded a battle simply because they have higher level characters, but also implement the right team compositions according to metas and knowledge of the game.
Embrace the Hybrid model of Vertical and Horizontal content:
The Journey Guide was the best Horizontal progression system that did not directly affect characters but was just an interaction tool. (It prompted a lot of lightspeed bundle purchases)
Dangers of retiring old characters and teams:
There are many under-utilized characters that can be potential teams from new marquee characters and 1 or 2 reworked characters. I enjoy playing with a depth in team composition in the roster and cannot do that when I have to have relic 9 to be viable. I am over 1 year out to gathering teams that I eventually need to relic to enhance the gameplay experience.
Relic delta practical problems:
I used to chase metas so much that my roster was losing high levels. With the current system, I am stable in the teams I have at relic 4-7. I can upgrade about 3-5 relic upgrades every month or two for lower relic levels.
If I want a relic 8 or 9, It takes a about 1-2 months for 1 upgrade and I max cantina refreshes every day and utlilize guilld currencies and other energy for gear at the Scavenger..
Relic delta takes away from a current aspect of the game, so it is upsetting to many players. Many players who could take down a top tier team with strategy feel rewarded and continue to strategize.
I would prefer something added to strengthen relic power but in smaller margins or targeting specific teams or characters rather than everything in the game.
Suggestion that was not considered:
Add powerups to the game exclusive after a relic level whether that be for a specific team or character like datacrons, but permanent.
Also, it would be beneficial for players to catch up with Increased conquest pass/ episode pass rewards for both F2P and P2P regarding relic amplifier materials aswell as lower priced bundles for relic catchup.
There was a 2 day special with a 300 dollar value for $10-$20 and you could purchase a maximum of 3. Adding something like this in a relic lightspeed would prove beneficial.
Alternate: Adding relic rewards in squad arena and ships.
There used to be a tournament mode for Rogue One, for increased rewards . (Could be fun if players were provided characters at a set level and you choose the teams before the tournament and have to upgrade them within that game mode for rewards. That way everyone has an opportunity at the same level and could purchase or save materials to have some kind of boost.
