The time sink in this game is becoming unbearable, and the few things we get to look forward to are often broken on release. These people are not interested in proving a good experience anymore.
The worst part is that this wasn't broken on release. It only got broken when the whales already had it and the rest got to try...
What does that tell you? Intentional modification to increase the difficulty for the non-whale players.
No pay, no play.
If they didn't have such a long history of incompetence, I would say that you are right. Knowing CG and their track record, I'm not so sure.
