Jedi can deflect blaster bolts but cant dodge or deflect a hand thrown knife. The writing was that of a high school fan fiction completely ignoring continuity and rewriting 30 years of cannon. I’ll appreciate the new as long as they maintain the old.
He was 60 in Legends. Legends is not canon. Even before the Acolyte, he had no canon birthdate. So yes, he can be in it.
The Jedi was distracted saving someone's life. That's literally the whole point.
