I got it to work finally by uninstalling, reinstalling, launching it, clicking on already have account and then connecting through EA Play. I have been using the pc client seamlessly so my account is tied to EA play and Google play. When it asks to connect to Google play just click guest and then it will load your account. If you haven't connected your account to EA though it may not work.
