Honestly dude I usually follow the same logic as you, I don't like when people complain all the time. But this time they messed up in a way that was really easy to avoid, and their first reaction was "wah wah too bad for you" (they literally said they will let the issue sort itself out nest era), so I understand why the people that bought packs want to be compensated now.
