Memory Boost Technical Issues and Feedback Thread

Sul Sul Simmers!

With today's base game update, we've announced a new feature called Memory Boost on an opt-in basis for PC/Windows players that will be available starting September 23rd. If you're interested in enabling this feature, please see the patch notes here for instructions.

If you're reporting a bug or technical issue you believe is related to Memory Boost, please use the following template:

Platform:
Which language are you playing the game in?
How often does the bug occur?
What is your current game version number?
What expansions, game packs, and stuff packs do you have installed?
Steps: How can we find the bug ourselves?
What happens when the bug occurs?
What do you expect to see?
Have you installed any customization with the game, e.g. Custom Content or Mods?

To help us better understand the technical aspects of the issues, we would also appreciate if you could provide additional information to us as well:

  • Press the Windows key and type "Dxdiag" into the search bar.
  • Click on "Dxdiag.exe" or press enter.
  • When the DirectX Diagnostic Tool opens, click on "Save All Information".
  • Save the .txt file to your desktop for easy access.
  • Attach to your post here.

And finally, any screenshots, video footage, or save files (please send the link to TheSimsDirect, additional instructions here: [INFORMATION] How to Send User Files to The Sims 4 Team) you can share of issues occurring are of great value to us as well. We look forward to your feedback and working together to enhance your Simming experience!

  • Hi!

I don`t have option for memory boost at all. I have included picture, but I am sorry it is not better quality. Print screen is not working when I want to take a screenshot in the game. It always minimizes my game. So here is my other info:

Which language are you playing the game in? English
How often does the bug occur? Every time I load the game
What is your current game version number? Version 1.118.242.1030 DX11
What expansions, game packs, and stuff packs do you have installed? All of them
Steps: How can we find the bug ourselves? I don`t know. By loading the game????
What happens when the bug occurs? Nothing. I should have option for Memory Boost, but I don`t
What do you expect to see? Option for Memory Boost
Have you installed any customization with the game, e.g. Custom Content or Mods? I have custom content, but no mods. I first loaded the game without custom content and there was no option for Memory Boost either.

Same for me, the option isn't there after updating the game.

Ah, I was confused when the twitter article and post from The Sims Direct Communications mentioned it as available today. Might be a good idea to edit that one if possible. :) Thanks for clearing it up! EA_Solaire

    Got some questions:

I play on an old Laptop with Windows 10 and 4GB RAM in Laptop-Mode and DX9.  I have some bugs, but I *never* had crashes. I just made this update while reading patch notes. Now I'm afraid what will happen when I start my game again?

    Because ...

In early October I get a new Laptop with Intel Ultra 9 Processor, 32GB RAM and Geforce RTX Graphic card. Then I don't have to think about memory or performance lags.

So, what I should do? Try memory boost for this some days or keep and use then my save I backuped today before update or what?

And, additional, there's also the event I wanna earn my rewards.

Do you have an advice what's the best I should do???

  • KatrinBlue  If your game is running fine, or well enough at least, on your current computer, you don't need to change anything.  Try out Memory Boost on your new computer, on a backup copy of a save you've been playing enough to know how it runs, and decide what you think then.

The rewards are synced to your account, so it doesn't matter which computer you use to earn them.

KatrinBlue Even with a powerful computer, like one equipped with 32GB of RAM and an RTX graphics card, The Sims 4 doesn’t always run perfectly in every situation. If better hardware alone were enough, players would simply upgrade their PCs and the game would run flawlessly, without the need for Maxis to continue working on optimization and modernizing the code. But as we know, it’s not quite that simple.

Performance issues such as lag, slowdowns, and even neighboring lots disappearing can still occur, even on high-end machines. That’s why it’s so important for the game to keep evolving, and this is exactly what the upcoming Memory Boost Mode is designed to address.

This new mode focuses on managing data more efficiently, which can help reduce or even eliminate many of these issues. And the best part is that it isn’t just for players with modest PCs — even those with powerful setups will notice meaningful improvements.

So no matter what kind of computer you play on, you can look forward to a smoother, more enjoyable experience. 🌟

Ok, I have a question : my game runs on Dx9 because it crashes when I try to run it on Dx11. With Memory Boost, would I be able to run my game on Dx11, or should I avoid Memory Boost ?
