Aloe is in the store right now for 100 gems! It is not a plant that you will use (a lot) but it might take two years until he is back in the store. So if you are a collector I would get Aloe.

For me, I would recommend squash and violet~ violet is extremely useful in arena during boosterama and its the first gemium that i actually bought.
@MoMoTurtl I would buy Squash because he can be very useful and Aloe because it is a limited time plant! You will have another 100 gems in a couple of days and can buy other Gemium plants.
I would buy Aloe and build up a reserve of gems.
As PowerToss says, Aloe is rarely in the store.
Even though it's not a great plant but squash and shrinking violet are good plants that you will probably use a lot but they are always in the store.
Y'all have corrupted Piglet. He had 150 gems and was saving up for Violet and for gauntlets for Ultomato. Now thanks to you, he has a lvl 1 Aloe and a broke gem account!

I used Goop in his tournament - was nice in Boosterama where he knocks everything out with Blover. That's all. Not used him since and refused to spend gems on Goop. Got it quite high due to the seed drops in his tournament.
if you don't have imitater, you can combine imp pear + shrinking violet (both are good at boosterama arena as long as no ail/enchant-mint's family get bruisez) to clear zombies (make sure plant imp pear first before shrinking violet)
Note:
some power mint won't boost their family if that plant already reach lv 10, like:
Ail-mint won't boost imp pear if your imp pear already lv 10
Enchant-mint won't boost shrinking violet if your shrinking violet already lv 10
Enforce-mint won't boost squash if your squash already lv 10
@MoMoTurtlI found your allowed 3 gem ads and I think 4-5 gauntlet ads and unlimited coin ads. these are per day. plus you can get another 15-20 a day for doing the other daily quests.
You can get a maximum of 27 gems per day.
5 for collecting 40x seeds
5 for doing pinata party
2 for watching an ad
6 for doing 2x arena freeplays
9 for watching 3x ads.
2 mints for winning arena daily
3 mints for completing all three arena practices.
Other rewards in the quest log as special events
