Unlinking old xbox account and linking a new one
To those having problems unlinking xbox accounts and linking a new one. Apparently they had the option to do it before, but it was removed. hundreds of people have reported the issue and don't want to create a whole new EA account considering their old one has all of the purchases. I had this issue. A lot of EA team members have reported the issue and players really want to get it fixed, considering it doesn't make sense to create a whole new EA account. It makes it hard to play EA stuff on game pass.

Sanchit (6/29/2021, 2:16:12 AM): Thanks! I would like to inform you that once you unlink the Xbox Gamertag you are given a disclaimer and it mentions the below information:-
You can unlink your platform accounts from your EA Account if you want to link them to a different EA Account, as long as that EA Account has never had the same account type linked to it before in its lifetime.
That means if you unlink an Xbox Gamertag from your EA Account, you can’t link a different Xbox Gamertag to it in the future.
You will need to link an Xbox with any other EA Account on which you never used to have an Xbox linked.

Kris (6/29/2021, 2:17:46 AM): that doesn't make sense. i no longer have access to that xbox account that i unlinked, as well as i dont want to create a new EA account. i have a lot of purchases attached to my account already. it makes no sense to create a whole new email jsut to attach a new account
Sanchit (6/29/2021, 2:20:51 AM): According to the current linking rules which are there in place with an EA Account the players are not able to link a new Xbox with the same EA Account after unlinking the old one. We don't have the manual option to link to from our end. We have already shared the feedback with our team regarding the linking procedure and we hope that it is changed as soon as possible so that the players are able to link the new Xbox with the same EA Account as creating a new one and keeping 2 accounts and not an experience which our players would like to have.

Sanchit (6/29/2021, 2:22:56 AM): We have already shared the feedback regearding this but there's no dedicated team which can help you in getting the new Xbox linked with the same EA Account and if these kinds of change can be made by our game team and if there will be any changes it will be applicable for every player.
Kris (6/29/2021, 2:23:00 AM): this issue is plastered all over the forums, and like you said its an ongoing issue, its weird that it was overlooked and can't be fixed. you can unlink and link every six months with the same account but can't change to a new one. EA has all this money but cant fix it? wack
Sanchit (6/29/2021, 2:25:20 AM): It's the feedback that has been going over the forums and as per our official linking rules, this is working as intended that an EA Account can only be linked with one Xbox in its lifetime. Here's the link mentioning all the information about the linking rules:-
Also, the 6 months time is that if you have 2 EA Accounts and unlink the Xbox from the one EA Account and link the same Xbox with another you won't be able to unlink it again for 6 months.
Kris (6/29/2021, 2:26:21 AM): you would think this would be put up higher on the chain with an actual EA dev team that could fix it considering this issue is going back almost a year. with 100s if not thousands of people. so you can do it with different EA accounts, but not with different xbox accounts. that seems a bit backwarsd

Sanchit (6/29/2021, 2:30:05 AM): Previously the players were able to unlink and link a new Xbox with the same EA Account and our team made this change which is gonna complete a year now. We have had several feedbacks regarding the same and forwarded it further and as we think this is not a player-friendly change. As it was possible before our team can make the changes and make it possible once again. It's just we don't have any official information if this change will be made and when. I would suggest you keep an eye on the link above as if any changes are made to the linking rules that article will be updated accordingly.
