PvZ GW2 Regrown - Update Idea
Alright so here's my pitch, Plants VS Zombies: Garden Warfare 2 Regrown Update. A massive update to the game with tons of new content. I had alot of ideas and I just wanted to put them out there, concepts that are coherent and consistent with the content already in the game, but still new so that the game would feel fresh.
14 New Characters! (1 new variant for every class! Including 2 new craaaaazy legendary variants!)
Peashooter
HP - 125 [Default]
Weapon: Cabbage-pulter - The shots arc, have an increased blast radius, and have a slower rate of fire.
Ammo - 8
DMG - 30
Splash - 10
Pros: Larger area damage, lobbed shots can be fired over obstacles.
Drawbacks: Slower rate of fire, lobbed shots could be difficult to line up on far away targets.
Appearance: It is bright green and its head, leaves, and legs are made up of cabbage and cabbage leaves.
Chomper
HP - 175 [Default]
Weapon: Digestive Juices - Each bite sends forth a clear liquid effect that deals damage in a cone in front of you, similiar to a scientist's shotgun.
DMG - 25 (Maybe 30?)
Ability: This chomper is a venus flytrap plant and has 4 flies hovering around it similar to how Zen Cactus has orbs floating around it. Eating a zombie causes 1 fly to zoom into the Chomper's mouth, the less flies around you the quicker you will digest zombies. The 4th and last fly is near instant digestion, then all 4 flies fly back out and it resets just like Zen Cactus after reloading.
Pros: Shotgun-like attack can hit multiple enemies at once, faster digestion for eating zombies and staying alive up to 4x before resetting.
Drawbacks: Slowest Chomper attack speed, also you may be sacrificing not having digestive upgrades for base passive increased digestion.
Appearance: Similar to the unsused Venus Flytrap Chomper concept art, it is a lime green color with red tints. It has a flytrap like mouth, tall skinny spikes on it's head, and maybe Venus Flytrap plant heads/mouths for legs.
Sunflower
HP - 140 (30 more)
Weapon: Paradise Ray - A Spray weapon similar to Fire Chomper/Power Chomper etc. Hold down the fire button to shine short range sunlight in front of you, the weapon will overheat if held for too long. Hold down the aim down sights button to use Sunshine Pulse. Sunshine Pulse fires slower than your average Sunflower, but has bigger projectiles that deal more damage. Much like Super Brainz, Tropical Flower's ranged attack overheats very quickly and severely, having a very long overheat penalty time.
DMG - 8 per tick
Sunshine Pulse DMG -
Close Hit: 10
Close Crit: 12
Mid Hit: 8
Mid Crit: 10
Far Hit: 7
Far Crit: 9
Pros: Able to do alot of damage up close, similar to Scientist. Also has more health to be able to get close.
Drawbacks: Very limited ranged capabilities.
Appearance: White/pink-ish petals around it's head. It's stem looks like a hawaiian tropical shirt. It's got blue-ish tropical flowers for hands and red tropical flower petals for legs. Maybe shades or a tropical hat. The back of it's head looks like a shirt collar.
Kernel Corn
HP - 150 (Default)

Close/Mid 4th Shot Hit: 15
Close/Mid 4th Shot Crit: 20

Far 4th Hit: 12
Far 4th Crit: 17
Pros: Ice variant so the targets will be slowed, rewards precise aim if you can hit enough shots to freeze the enemy and then hit them with multiple 4th shots.
Drawbacks: Slow rate of fire, slower projectile speed.

The reticle is the same as basic Rose but with 2 smaller reticles to the sides.

Appearance: Alien-like mouth and glowing eyes. 4 aloe vera "leaves" around body.
All-Star
HP - 200 (Default)
Weapon: The Dribbler - Shots from this weapon will bounce off of the ground and walls up to 2 times, they also have a small blast radius on the final bounce that deals 1 damage.
DMG -

Crit: 7
Pros: Can jump higher gaining acess to some rooftops, bouncing shots are good for firing into a group of plants, misses may still hit another plant. No damage drop off.

Captain Deadbeard
HP - 125 (Default)
Weapon: Ghost Gaze [Zoom] - Fires as fast as you can pull the trigger, and hitting an enemy enough times will Haunt them, causing them to take 1 damage evey once in awhile to prevent their health regeneration. Vanquishing Haunted enemies causes them to explode, dealing damage to their own team in a small radius. Vanquished Haunted enemies also leave a ghost behind that stays for a moderate duration and Haunts the next plant that passes through it.
Weapon: Spooky Sounds [Hip-Fire] - Sprays mist much like Captain Squawk. This attack can also Haunt enemies.

HP - Buckethead | DMG - 15 | Speed - Slightly Slower
Invasive Weed [PvZH <Invasive Species Card>] - Once this weed reaches the objective, it will start summoning basic weeds every 8 seconds, starting with 1 immediately. This weed is very slow and emits a bright signal from it's antenna, which easily gives away it's position.
HP - Cone | DMG - 10 | Speed - Really Slow(Vase Weed)
Veloci-Radish [PvZH] - Spawning this plant spawns 2 at a time. They are fast and can leap at enemies, but they have low health.
HP - Lower | DMG - 15 | Speed - Fast | Quantity - 2
Potted Plants! \ \ \

Close Range: Piercing | DMG - 12
Craaaaazy New Abilities! (1 new ability variant for every class!)
Plant Abilities!
Charges - 2
Sunflower: Sunny Aura - Replaces Heal Beam. Toggle this abulity on to heal all plants around you, but at the cost of slower movement speed. There is a short cooldown after toggling the ability off.
Chomper: Spikerock [PvZ] - Replaces Spikeweed. Does not stun zombies but it slows them down. It does not disappear when stepped on and does alot of damage. It also does bonus damage to armored summoned zombies. Limit - 2 | HP - Same as Spikeweed
Cactus: Infi-Nut [PvZ2] - Replaces Tallnut Battlement. Projects a small shield to the left and right. Plants can shoot through the shields but zombies cannot. The Wall-nut itself has less health than the shields and it is exposed so zombies can shoot it. Taking down the Wall-nut also disables the shields, but the wall-nut will come back after a short while. The only way to fully destroy it is to destroy the base.
Wall-nut HP - 95
Shield HP - 200
Base HP - 115
Limit -
Citron: Zapricot [PvZH] - Replaces E.M.Peach. Stuns enemies for even less time, but deals more damage. 5 second longer cooldown than E.M.Peach.
Kernel Corn: Buckshot Shuckshot - Replaces Shuckshot. Fires a shotgun shot that is way less powerful than the regular Shuckshot, but has alot less start-up time and can be used twice. Charges - 2 | DMG - 40
Rose: Time Boost - Replaces Time Snare. The opposite of Time Snare and green in color, Time Boost grants a short speed boost to allies caught in the blast radius.
Boost Duration - 2 seconds
These Plant abilites could really change the flow of battle! Whether you're using Pea Dash as a direct damage Peashooter variant like Commando Pea or Agent Pea to stay grounded and hit those shots while being a hard to hit target yourself, or using the Sunflower's Sunny Aura ability to help your team walk in on a capture point at the cost of making yourself a slower and easier to hit target, these abilities could really open up some new strategies for Plants. Rose's Time Boost could be great synergy with Corn's Buckshot Shuckshot, allowing him to get in close fast, or Sunny Aura, giving speed back to the Sunflower. Put an Iron Maiden in front of an Infi-Nut to protect it's center and give sniper support from behind a shield as Cactus!
Zombie Abilities!
Charges - 2
All-Star: Endzone Tackle - Replaces Sprint Tackle. Moves slower and deals less damage than the regular Sprint Tackle, but it can be guided and aimed with the left stick while running.
Scientist: Experimental Z-Tech - Replaces Warp. Creates a small dome shield over the scientist. It works as a personal shield and does not shield teammates. The shield activates immediately and has a short cooldown. Once activated, the shield doesn't stay on for long. Shield HP - 35
Engineer: Zombot Sentry [GW1] - Replaces Big Bolt Blaster. Drops down a Rocket Drone that floats in place and acts like a turret. It shoots a beam at plants. Not a drone like GW1.
HP - 100 | DMG - 6 | Limit - 1
Super Brainz: Super Duper Fly - Replaces Heroic Kick. Goes further than a Heroic Kick and deals more damage, but only has 1 charge.
Charges - 1
Captain Deadbeard: Un-Abandon Ship - Replaces Cannon Rodeo. Ride a blue-ish colored cannon with seaweed and barnacles all over it. This cannon has more ammo, a slightly larger blast radius, shoots faster, but does less damage. It has water-based effects.
Ammo - 10, from 6
DMG -25, from 50
Splash - 12, from 20.
Imp: Weighty Gravity Grenade - Replaces Gravity Grenade. Creates an energy field on the ground that does damage within it's radius, slows down plants by 10%, and prevents plants from jumping. DMG - 2 (Constant)
These alternate Zombie abilities would be great fun to use. If you're a scientist that focused on healing, you can use Experimental Z-Tech to stay close to home and take a few extra hits, or charge in an block an attack that would normally vanquish you like Shuckshot or a Chili Bean explosion. The Imps new Gravity Grenade still stops Peashooters from using Hyper to jump above you, and is great for dealing capture point damage combined with the Imp's weapons! Captain Deadbeard's sunken ship cannon fires quickly and can do 12 damage to alot of plants at one time. For Engineer, if you would rather get into the action, replace Big Bolt Blaster with a self-acting turret, drop it down and combine your attack with the Sentry to do alot of damage.
Craaaaazy New Bosses!
) Plant Boss (
Apple Mortar [PvZ2]
- Large plant boss that fires explosive apples into the air.
- Modified plant from PvZ2, added longer legs, a leaf shield, and leaf arms.
- Each mortar pod on the back can be destroyed seperately.
- Destroying a mortar pod deals a small chunk of damage to the boss. 25% health for destroying all 3 pods.
- Hitting the shield prevents all damage.
ATTACKS -
Core Launch: Fires 3 apple cores into the sky that come back down after a short time. After landing, there is a short fuze time before they explode, dealing damage and stunning zombies for 2 seconds.
Forward Cannon: Tilts the cannons to face forward and fires exploding shots straight ahead. All 3 shots are fired at the same time in a 3-way spread.
Seed Gatling: Rapidly spits out apple seeds like a machine gun.
Leaf Shield: Tilts the leaf shield inward, blocking half of it's face, making it harder to land crits.
Shield'n'shoot: While using the shield, Apple Mortar will grab the left mortar pod and bring it around to the side facing forward to use as a single shot cannon. This doesn't happen if the left mortar pod is destroyed.
Super Shot: Marks a large area on the ground before firing. Fires all 3 mortars at the same time into the air. The shots come back down and explode on impact, dealing 185 damage. The radius is smaller for each destroyed mortar pod.
> Zombie Boss <
Gas Giant [PvZH]
- Taken from PvZH, but removed the body.
- Floats around.
- A little bit bigger than a Garguantuar
ATTACKS -
Cozmic Comet: Fires a green orb with moderate projectile speed, moderate blast radius, and a toxic effect.
Galactic Groundpound: Charges up for a long time before slamming the ground with energy in a massive radius. The attack must be jumped over.
Expansion: Gas Giant glows brighter and gains a toxic aura for a limited time, and fires smaller Cozmic Comets at a quicker rate.
Phyzics: Stars to channel a massive aura that slows down plants and deals low damage over time. This can be stopped by dealing 290 damage to Gas Giant.
Biggest Bang: When defeated, Gas Giant will charge up before exploding, dealing alot of damage to nearby plants.
New Garden Ops/Graveyard Ops Content!
Non Spawnable Plants:
Shellery Team [PvZH] - 2 Weeds pushing a Shellery along that stop to shoot powerful explosive rounds. Shooting the Weeds counts as crits.
Carrotillary Team [PvZH] - 2 Weeds pushing a Carrotillary. Before firing, the ground is marked showing where the shots are going to land. Fires 4 missiles each burst. Shooting the Weeds counts as crits.
Shellery Teams may also appear in Backyard Battleground.
New Graveyard Ops Bonus Objective - "Steal the Arti-facts!"
Zombies must find a temple totem which shows a code of certain colors. There are 3 Arti-facts(Golden Artichokes) around the map with different color glows. You must grab the Arti-facts in a specific order matching the color code on the totem. Doing the wrong order fails the objective.
Non-spawnable Zombies:
Imp Cannon [PvZ2] - 2 pirate zombies pushing an imp cannon. Fires exploding imps. Zombies are crit spots. This Imp Cannon is modified to have a makeshift z-tech shield plate on the front which makes it harder to land crits on the zombies. Imp Cannon moves alot slower than a Shellery Team, also, it is more rare and arrives in fewer numbers.
Ra Zombie [PvZ2] - Only appears in Garden Ops as a bonus objective. While Ra Zombie is on the map, all dropped Sun becomes red and unusable. They will float towards him, even going through walls.
New Garden Ops Bonus Objective - "Defeat Ra Zombie!"
Spawns 1 Ra Zombie on the map that prevents all Sun-Drop healing. He doesn't have much health so he can be taken out quickly once the plants get to him.
New Gardens and Graveyards Map Concept!
It's a classic neighborhood battle where Plants must defend against the Zombies! Here's an idea for the final phase -
There's a house at the back where Plants spawn, and across a very large checkered pattern lawn filled with Potted Plants, hedges, arch-ways, plantfood crates, and vases, is a street where Zombies spawn. While the Plants are given alot of Potted Plants to defend, the Zombies are given alot of Bone Piles to summon an army of minions themselves.
Objective - The Zombies must grab a Flag and take it across the lawn and to the house, but holding the flag disables your abilities, and if you're vanquished the flag is dropped. There is a limited amount of time that the Zombies have to pick the Flag back up before it resets back to the street.
Quick Sketch:
It is the ultimate Plants VS Zombies battle and heavily references the original game. I think something like this would be the perfect map for a big update.
Last Phase Music -
Customization Ideas
Hat - Sliced tomato on lettuce helmet
Organics - Cucumber shield with carrot sword, wrapped by thin lettuce.
Accesories - Purple onion lips with crouton teeth.
Tattoo - Lettuce bottom with salad dressing top.
Plant Legendary Hats:
Peashooter - Threepeater, the two smaller heads shoot small lime green peas.
Cactus - Artillary Fern Friend, spits out seeds
Chomper - Air Base Blossom, opens up to look like a base and a ship at the same time.
Basic Customization:
Peashooter Hat - Split Pea-sonality
Citron Hat - Stand for a Stand (Lemonade Stand)
Kernel Corn - Dark Tater (Potato helmet that resembles Darth Vader)
Bonus Concepts
Sea Weed - Attacks from range using splashes of water.
Plant Boss: Tricarrotops [PvZH]
This was the new Plant boss I thought of first, but since the plants already have the robot triceratops I think this could create a strange notion that plants always use triceratops. Thus I switched it out for Apple Mortar.
Attacks -
Charge: Runs forward dealing damage.
Rotating Turret: Shellery and Carrotillary variants. The turret on top can be destroyed.
Stomp: Deals area damage around it.
Dino-Roar: Gives all nearby Veloci-Radish more health and slows nearby Zombies. Also spawns 4 Veloci-Radish.
Carrot Juice: Sprays constant damage in front of it.
Carrotfield: Makes a row of dir and carrot mines in front of it. Carrot mines bounce out of the ground before exploding.
Zombie Boss: Wormhole Gatekeeper [PvZH]
This is if the Gas Giant is too strange having a giant green head float around. Wormhole Gatekeeper could be another cosmic-related replacement with interesting attacks.
Attacks -
Wormhole Whack: Creates a small portal next to the player and swings through it.
Lazer Suprize: Creates a large portal, then a huge cannon sticks out of it and fires a laser beam.
Port-a-Portal: Creates a blue portal that summomns spawnable zombies. Summons 3.
Seal the Gates!: Creats 1 red portal that will charge up for awhile before spawning 4 Zombie Classes. Plant players can walk up to these portals and holde CIRCLE to close them.
Buh-Bye Blast: Sends a portal at the player that will teleport them to a random spot.
Ground warp: Lobs a slow moving projectile that will teleport the player into the air and stun them when they hit the ground.
Self-Port: Inserts the key into the helmet and teleports.
Bonus Variants:
Snow Flower (Shotgun windgust weapon [Like Chemist])
Potted Flower (Pot around stem, mean eye brows. Passively drops 1 sun, drops quicker when rooted)
Geologist (Rock Cruncher weapon, pump-action shotgun, each shot must be loaded seperately)
Dojo Brainz (Samurai-like suit, gains 1 of 3 buffs upon vanquishes)
Soccer Star (Charge variant, GOOOAAAAL Gun)
Captain Future (Space pirate, charge variant)
That's it! It took good awhile to type it all up but I wanted to submit them to Popcap and the forums to see what everybody thinks. Well? Is there a chance we could see something like this in the future?
