Re: Battle for Neighborville May 26 Patch Notes

@PyxelBreakfast NC did not get a buff. It was an overall nerf. Sure fung fu is better but his primary got obliterated.

Nightcap DID get a buff. Her damage is 18 now. The spores don't go as far though. This is still an unnecessary change.

  • @DarkTyyp1 more damage compared to her inaccuracy and small projectile isn’t really a buff imo. They should revert to the previous one.

  • @DarkTyyp yeah she did a get a damage buff, did get a fung fu buff, but overall... big nerf.

On paper you can read all the buffs you want about NC, the main one that will affect game play most often is the attribute that got nerfed into the ground.

That's why I said OVERALL nc was nerfed

Why not just remove NC from the game already?  She’s seen more change than anyone since Picnic and she needed it the least?!

Nightcap is fine. Still can harass people, just not as many as before. I play on PC, though, it is certainly easier to aim.

@spIash_damage I completely agree. With how zombies have been stronger than plants for a while I didn't expect to see plant nerfs but here we are. The fung fu changes are good but her primary aswell as her survivability is just awful.

I have to say that I really don't think that Nightcap needed more nerfs. She's felt fine for awhile now. I was fully behind some of the initial changes in founders but since then while a good Nightcap can be a pain, so is a good anything else really, and I don't see her needing any nerfs. I haven't played her since the patch as I'm capped on bulbs till next month so play a lot less until the map resets but I did watch Zack Scott play her and she seems hard to hit with now, even on PC (where Zack plays). She's a high mobility, low health character, which makes her more difficult to do well with than average to begin with, even if a very good player playing her being a menace to the zombies, they're doing their job in such a case.

As posted elsewhere, the only thing on Imp I felt needed nerfing was how powerful the mech self-destruct was. It was far too large an area for far too much damage and 'suicide mechs' were a serious issue in most matches. That being said, like NC, Imp is more difficult to do well with than a tougher character like All-Star, but those who are good with them can be very hard to play against, I hope this isn't why they were nerfed.

Overall this patch has good and bad and I feel the good slightly outweighs the bad but these low health, high mobility characters are always controversial as they are difficult to do well with and can feel unfair to play against when the person playing them is really good, whereas those that are not so good with them can get vanquished a lot and feel frustrated as they achieve little. I'd like all characters to be fun to play, balanced, and not frustrating to play as or against, and I don't feel we're there yet.

the aiming still sucks. please make the aiming more like GW2, so the game will actually be fun instead of frustrating.

  • @Iron_Guard8Nightcap didn't get buffed or nerfed, they readjusted her playstyle by forcing her to bunny hop at a closer range against Electric Slide, Foot Soldier, and Wizard but also interactions against 125 hp targets by making them take 1 less hit because of the 1 damage buff, especially up against Engineer. Nightcap counters Engineer pretty hard now because not only can he not escape from Shadow Dome, but it doesn't matter if the devs nerfed her weapon projectile size because his hitbox is so big anyway.

Before the latest update: 8 shots for 125 hp targets because 1 = 17, up to 135 damage.

After the latest update: 7 shots for 125 hp targets because 1 = 18, up to 126 damage.

@Stringer2048Do you not understand how Popcap and EA balance the game? It now takes 1 less shot to vanquish a 125 hp target. Nightcap is now Engineer's best counter!

@chogath_player My honest opinion, Nighcap still feels flawed in design. She still feels like a bootleg Imp with a bigger hitbox. Evasiveness is her best trait, kind of like imp (since he has no firepower). She is going to need actual changes, not just buffs or nerfs.
I like that they made Fung fu better, but she still doesn't feel like a "stealth" class. More like a harasser character with the evasiveness of shadow sneak. I personally don't mind the spore strike hitbox, but sometimes her primary feels underwhleming in terms of damage.

  • I just noticed something. Soldier got nerfed in primary damage. Barrel Blast got nerfed in blast radius. Its like they're balancing these characters to balance out their upgrades. Rapid fire for soldier and Incoming Keg for Pirate is going to be very important for their performance. Barrel kind of sucks now without Incoming keg.

Maybe thats why All-star got that damage nerf. To balance out the spin class upgrade? Instead of fixing spin class? Because I thunk All-star might be jusitified to do 8-10 because he isn't as accurate at longer ranges,  so I don't know any other reason as to why he got a damage nerf.
