Re: Summer Nights Festival - Imp (Character Challenge Guide)!

My personal tips to make it easier to complete Imp's character challenges are as follows. Note that for the upgrade names and stats, I used this link on the PvZ Wiki to assist: https://plantsvszombies.fandom.com/wiki/Imp_(PvZ:_BfN). I will be covering each challenge separately, so you can refer to a particular one if you desire. Anyway, without further ado:

Earn 5,000 XP as Imp.

  • Use the "Levelling Up" upgrade for 10% increased XP from most actions.
  • He is an Attack character, so vanquishes should be your main aim, but assists, revives and other actions all help as well.
  • 2-3 full, successful games of Ops or Skirmishes in free-roam regions should automatically give you this challenge.
  • You shouldn't worry too much about completing this challenge, you're already likely to get it before your other challenges.
  • If you see an opportunity to take XP without too much risk, do it, come on.

Deal 3,500 Damage with Imp Blasters.

This challenge requires you to deal a total of 3,500 damage or more only using your Imp Blasters. They do low damage, but they sure fire fast. You do not need vanquishes for this challenge. It is probably best to focus enemies with more health for this challenge - this way you can deal more damage to them.

Tips

  • Ops, Skirmishes and Free-roam Fights: Try to move unpredictably while constantly shooting your blasters. Prioritize using your Imp Blasters against bosses, they are the best way of dealing damage with your Imp Blasters.
  • Battle Chests and Bounty Hunts: Use them upon enemies at close range to make your shots less likely to miss.
  • Bosses and Boss Fights: Keep firing your Imp Blasters constantly against the bosses.
  • PvP Modes: Try to approach enemies, so they are unaware of your presence if you can, and start shooting them. Focus on larger targets and targets with more health as you can deal more total damage this way and are less likely to miss. If a target is being healed, perhaps try shooting the target being healed, rather than the player healing them. You can get more damage in this way.

Upgrades

  • Arm Day (3 upgrade points): Your Imp Blasters have less recoil, making it easier to shoot enemies overall.

Land 200 Hits on Enemies in a Gravity Grenade. #

This challenge requires you to deal damage to enemies 200 times or more while they are in a Gravity Grenade. This will not work against bosses. Because your Imp Blasters fire fast, you should be able to land a decent amount of hits before your enemies break free from it. The other good thing is your Impkata deals low damage, but deals damage really fast, meaning you can land tons of hits on enemies in a Grenade with Impkata. Consider that for a moment. Grouped enemies are good for completing this challenge because you are more likely to catch enemies in your Grenade.

Tips

  • Ops, Skirmishes and Free-roam Fights: Try to get really close to enemies, then throw your Gravity Grenade, or throw it at a group of enemies. Then start firing away at enemies you capture in a Gravity Grenade with your Imp Blasters, or even better use Impkata if you are close enough at the time. Enemies clustering around your Graveyard in Ops deserve to be captured with a Gravity Grenade. Just saying.
  • Battle Chests and Bounty Hunts: Throw your Gravity Grenade at an enemy, or multiple if you can, then start firing away with Imp Blasters, or use Impkata.
  • Giddy Park (Private with Al): Wait for a Wildflower to appear, or multiple, then use your Gravity Grenade upon them, then start firing away with your Imp Blasters or Impkata.
  • PvP Modes: When your enemies cluster, try to throw a Gravity Grenade at them, and then start firing at them. Alternatively, if this is not really possible, you may find it better if you trap a single enemy in it, then focus on that enemy only until they can escape the Gravity Grenade. If you can catch enemies unaware in the Gravity Grenade, then try and Impkata them afterwards because they will not be able to instantly react. But if you are too far away, just shoot at them instead. When you capture enemies in your Gravity Grenade, try and jump around unpredictably and constantly shoot to reduce your chances of being vanquished. Be careful of Citrons.

Upgrades

  • Supermassive (3 upgrade points): Your Gravity Grenade has an increased size, which is really useful for improving your chances of catching enemies in it.

Vanquish Multiple Enemies using a single Explosive Escape 10 Times. #

For this challenge, you need to vanquish 2 or more enemies with a single use of Explosive Escape 10 times or more. The damage and radius on the Explosive Escape is quite generous, but it takes a while before you can do this again, as it takes a while to call in your Mech again, and then you will be able to detonate it again. Grouped enemies are very effective for this challenge because you are more likely to vanquish multiple enemies this way, especially if they are closely clumped. Something else to consider: use your Gravity Grenade after you activate Explosive Escape, to try and trap enemies so they cannot escape. Also, something you can do is Robo Call in a group of enemies, then instantly bail and see what work you can get done that way.

Tips

  • Ops, Skirmishes and Free-roam Fights: Get your enemies to cluster, then Robo Call, then quickly use your Explosive Escape. Simple but effective. If your enemies cluster around your Graveyard in Ops, free opportunity. Take it.
  • Battle Chests and Bounty Hunts: Use Explosive Escape if your enemies cluster. You may be able to get them to cluster - it just depends on positioning. You may be able to force them to move closer together.
  • Giddy Park (Private with Al): Wait for multiple weeds to cluster, then use Explosive Escape.
  • PvP Modes: In objective modes and when your enemies decide to group, this is a good opportunity to work towards this challenge. Use your Robo Call, then when you get close to a bunch of enemies, or when your Mech is about to be vanquished (you might as well - it cannot regenerate on its own), use the Explosive Escape. If you can do all this from behind your enemies, Mech up and then use Explosive Escape, prepare for some decent results and, most likely, your multiple vanquishes you're looking for.

Upgrades

  • Mech Hunter (4 upgrade points): Now, while this upgrade does not help with the challenge itself, it is actually excellent to use. When you deal damage with your Imp, your Mech refreshes faster, meaning you can Robo Call more often, meaning you can use Explosive Escape more. Bonus: if you deal damage with your Explosive Escape, even if you vanquish an enemy, you get a small cooldown for your next Robo Call.
  • Pod Powered (2 upgrade points): Move faster for a short time when you use Explosive Escape, useful for getting away or retreating and letting your Mech Explosion do the work.

Vanquish 50 Enemies Using Impkata. #

You need to use your Impkata to vanquish 50 or more enemies. This challenge can take a while because this ability does not deal great damage. For this reason, enemies with low health (or that are weakened) or grouped enemies are good to target when you perform this challenge. This one can take a while - so always try to take this challenge into consideration.

Tips

  • Ops, Skirmishes and Free-roam Fights: Try to find a group of enemies, weaken any that is necessary using Imp Blasters, then use Impkata. Throw your Gravity Grenade at enemies first if you want to make sure they cannot escape. Enemies clustering around your Graveyard in Ops are a great opportunity. Weaken some of the tougher enemies if you think it is necessary, then Impkata the lot.
  • Battle Chests and Bounty Hunts: Weaken an enemy, get close to them, and use Impkata upon them to finish the job.
  • Giddy Park (Private with Al): Use Impkata on a Wildflower. Using it on multiple is even better if you get the chance.
  • PvP Modes: Try and activate your Impkata while your enemies are not aware of your location, because you are quite vulnerable while using this ability. In the later part of the ability, you deal more damage, so it may be better to wait until that point to start damaging enemies, so they have less time to react to you suddenly damaging them. Grouped enemies, weakened enemies, and low-health enemies are always useful for you to target. Try to move around as much as you can during Impkata to reduce your chances of being vanquished. Use Gravity Grenade on enemies first if you want to reduce their chances of escaping. Good stuff.

Upgrades

  • Ripcord (2 upgrade points): Your Impkata still does damage as normal, but the ability resolves faster, meaning you deal the damage faster and give enemies less time to get away.
  • Centripetal Force (4 upgrade points): When multiple enemies are near you and you are using Impkata, you move much faster, great for trying to get enemies trying to retreat from you.

# Upgrades that reduce refresh times of abilities, such as Critical Blow, Refreshing Revive and Combo, are really useful for these specific challenges as you can use these abilities more often in particular situations, therefore giving you your challenge faster, because you can use your abilities more.

So, Imp's challenges are actually quite straightforward. However, apart from the Imp Blasters challenge, you're probably better off avoiding bosses because it's unlikely that you're going to get much work done with them. Grouped enemies and enemies with low health are good to take into consideration: they are useful for most of your challenges. Your Impkata challenge could take a while to complete, so it's best to try and always keep that challenge in mind, work on it whenever possible. Your Mech does not have much challenges attached to it, so you can use it in a pinch if you are low health to increase your survivability for a bit, or perhaps use it to weaken enemies. However you do the challenges, they should not take you too long. Good luck completing them! Bye now and I hope that this guide was helpful to all!
