[Steam] Widescreen on Windows 10

Hello there I'm not sure if this is the right place to say this but is there a way for the Steam version of PVZ GOTY Edition to have widescreen or be compatible with Windows 10, in full screen mode the screen covers up barely half and the quality/ resolution is very bad for my eyes

@victorjr19666 With the age of the game, there will only be a few things you can do to change this. The game itself is compatible with Win 10 as many updates happened with the game over the years to make it compatible.

As of now, there are no more updates to the game, so you have to find different solutions beyond what there are in the game settings. You can change the compatibility mode in the install folder by right-clicking the game's icon and going into properties. With Steam, you can alter the launch commands but that is a bit out of our scope of support.

I've also searched online for this issue, and there are many threads on Steam on changing the game's resolution and options you can take. I did a search of the following "how to force plants vs zombies into wide screen"

Steam threads came right up on this search!

  • quick question, back when origin was still around i owned PvZ as part of their On The House program, obviously its been years and i got a new PC where did that game go, do i still own it or did i lose it when Origin got shelfed?

@victorjr19666 So any games that were added to the account itself aren't removed unless that game was through EA Play because that is a sub. If the game is no longer there and you are on the right account, you can try the following:

If your game library is still showing as empty, please try the following steps to clear this up:

    • Open task manager, locate EA Background Service, and end task
    • Clear the cache for the EA app
    • Check that the EA app is fully updated
    • Run the EA app as an administrator
    • Check for any background applications blocking the EA App
    • Make sure the EA app or other launcher is closed.
    • Press the Windows key and "R" at the same time.
    • Type or copy and paste "%ProgramData%
    • Navigate to Electronic Arts\EA Services
    • In the license folder, you can delete all the files

As these are license files for older titles, you won't lose any progress or data.

Clear the cache for the EA app, and if the game has the option, repair the game and launch it again.
