I just dropped mine down to 16bit x 8000hz or 16000hz and my game worked.  What a joke, great find on the sound issue.   I was running 16bit x 44100, tried 48000 (max) didnt work. but dropping it down worked.

Ok people, i have tried everything that everyone said until the last post.

I changed my audio playback settings in properties to the lowest they can go and the game is now playing for me. What a great find guys well done to who ever found this fix!!!
