Re: 60 Hz vs 120 Hz

@RektalSphincter , @Fred_vdp he lol 😉 all lol aside at the he EDIT... sorry Fred was so NOT lol at you it just made me think how upset my husband would be if I was a he 😛 I game on 3 Benq screens 144hrz with 1ms . For the last 6 years I was on 3 Samsung screens 60hrz with 8ms  and when I got the new screens I was fully blown away at the way it looked and acted. I can get more kills now and even though I am not a fan of eye candy I can see / spot other players more easy on the new screens. I have always been about farms per second in game not the eye candy but the new screens well they made my jaw drop in star wars and in BF4 as I can now see things I did not see on my old screens. And once you go to 120hrz or 144hrz you will never ever go back to 60hrz lol. Just my view but you may as well just go up to 144hrz to get the best experience  but fully your call.

From the homework I did on screens I went with the Benq due to the reviews and amazing color they have and from my own past record with screens I only buy Benq or Samsung as they seem to last forever. Another gamer I know was on Asus 144hrz screens and we did homework together on this as he was not happy with  his asus screens color. He bought a new BenQ screen as well and he said it blew his old 144hrz asus away with the color.

What ever you decide to buy just make sure it has the 1ms  as this allows you to see / move / turn and react faster. Years ago I did game on 120hrz screen yes it looked amazing but I do not recall if it helped me with game play /able to see other players sooner but I used it for 3d gaming when it first  came out lol.

Some links and videos to help you decide what is best for you....

http://gaming.benq.com/gaming-monitor/xl2720z <--- this is what I got yes my bezel around the screens is larger then what I had but does not effect me as I am used to it. One thing I like on this screen is I did not have to set up any color out of the box just set my PC to 144hrz :]

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uybF1Ynu3wQ <--- This guy is so funny and has some good info in his video on refresh rates 1ms etc  :]

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PgHx3eMBXjI <--- 60hrz vs 120hrz

On a last note on all this what ever you buy be sure your video card can use a DP or DVI cable so you can pull out the 120 or 144Hrz with what ever you go with :] Do your homework and decide what is best for you and your needs as it is $$$$ to go down this road and for me it was well worth it. I hope this was some help for you and if you want more help I am more then happy to help you. Good luck

Thank you for the advice.  I was looking at the Benq 27" 144hz monitor, but the specs indicate it doesn't support G-sync, so I have been hesitant to drop $500 on it. I am currently running on a Dell Ultrasharp (U2715H), which is pretty nice for work, but still a 60 Hz monitor.

  • @RektalSphincter ya I did look at this but due to I needed 3 sigh and reading reviews on it I backed away as I never use V-Sync as it limits the FPS in game and I want my 180 -200 fps on my screens in game. Give this a read it it just one review on many on G-sync line...

If you do fully want this then if I recall correct BenQ does have gamer screens with this but I could be wrong.

I think it's the username. You could have gone for Zorlaccette. 🤔

  • @Fred_vdp lol oh heck no Zorlac is a old sk8board comp from the 80's and I used to sk8 ramps for 20 years  up until I blew out my ankles a few years ago lol.

I have that monitor and you will not be disappointed/ games look super smooth at 144Hz im running 2x780Ti in SLi and I can pull 150 frames+ at ultra settings on most games. (i know it only displays 144 frames regardless of spec)
