Flight sticks with the same vendor name always assign to same device in menu

Product: Star Wars: Squadrons
Platform:PC
Please specify your platform model. PC
What is your gamertag/PSN ID/EA Account name? CougheeCakes
Are you playing in VR? No
Which part of the game is the issue happening in? Game Menu
What were you doing when the bug occurred? Step by Step detail is helpful. Attempting to assign my controllers the way I would like them assigned.
Where did this issue occur? Please include menu name or in game location. Options->Controls Under the Flight stick section.
When did this happen? (dd.mm.yy hh:mm) 01.10.20 21:00
How often does the bug occur? Every time (100%)
How severe is your issue? Can play, but it's highly frustrating
What happens when the bug occurs? I have two T.16000M flight sticks. One left and One Right that I use in a HOSAS setup, I have them set to left and right using the toggle switch on the bottom of each controller. The game simply sees them both as "T.16000M". In the Controls menu, I am unable to assign them as I'd like to "Flight Stick 1 Device" and "Flight Stick 2 Device". No matter what you set each controller as, once you exit the menu and go back into the menu, you will see them both set to the same device. This is massively confusing and frustrating.
What do you expect to see? I expect that I see one device assigned to "Flight Stick 1 Device" and the other assigned to "Flight Stick 2 Device"
Which ship were you playing? If not applicable, just answer "no" or "none." none
What components were you using? Thrustmaster T.16000M flight sticks. One toggled to left and one toggled to right using the switch at the bottom of the device.
Which customizations (if any) were you using? none

When using two flight stick controllers (HOSAS configuration) with the same vendor name in windows 10, You are unable to select the assignment of each controller to different flight stick devices in the Controls menu.  No matter how you arrange them in menu, once you exit the menu and return you will see them toggled to the same device.  The game still sees them as different devices but this makes configuration very confusing and should not be broken this way.

  • Same joysticks, same problem. There's no way to tell them apart, and I can't find any way that allows me to rename them that actually works either.

  • They also don’t always map to the same joystick in the game after a system reboot. I’ve found that when they are swapped I can swap the USB ports they are plugged into to get back to what I’ve mapped in the game. Luckily I have them plugged in adjacent to one another in a hub on my desk. But for folks with them plugged in in harder to reach places or people with limited mobility to go ducking with their cables constantly it is a poor solution. The game should identify them correctly each time. All other flight sims and space ccr combat games I play do not have this issue  it is definitely a bug and likely that the dev team responsible did not anticipate a HOSAS setup or any reason users would have two sticks with the same vendor name  plugged in. Silly bug.
