Re: Only the first four controller devices are available to be selected

@Laxxor I'm sorry to say I don't know how to check what specific devices the game can see (if you or someone else could educate me that would be very useful).

All I can say is from a practical point of view I have the following case:

Thrustmaster Warthog joystick.

Thrustmaster Warthog throttle.

MFG Crosswind rudder pedals.

USB mouse + keyboard.

When I have all those devices plugged in the behaviour in-game is:

Joystick axis and buttons all register in-game and can be assigned actions.

Throttle axis and buttons all register in-game and can be assigned actions.

Rudder pedals only register in a single direction (ie I can assign 'yaw right', but when I try to assign 'yaw left' to the opposite rudder motion the game does not register any input)

Mouse pointer is not visible or useable on screen unless I hold down the right mouse button continuously.

If I remove the Warthog throttle and stick and just have the pedals, mouse and keyboard attached:

Rudder pedals recognised and I can assign yaw direction without problems on the + and - rudder axis (and pedal action as well).

Mouse pointer fully visible and works nominally

Switching out the Warthog HOTAS + MFG Crosswind pedals and replacing it with the standard plastic Thrusmaster HOTAS (with twist on joystick for yaw):

All joystick and throttle axis are recognised and can be assigned

Mouse works nominally

Sadly the plastic joystick is nearing the end of it's life, is very spongy and not that precise - I would really like to be able to use the Warthog/rudder combo that I use without problem in *literally* every other flying-style game that I own.  Right now if I want to switch game I have to unplug/replug a bunch of stuff before I start.

You are not alone young padawan. Have the same setup like you, MFG is not recognized, TM Warthog HOTAS and Throttle working well.

Have to unplug my Flight throttle quadrant to get access to my pedals.

Mouse and KB is a mess up.....

The other thing are hard CTDs but that s another story

OK, so on the Controls screen, scroll all the way to the bottom (devicelist.png).  What do you have shown?

As you can see, up to 4 "slots" are available, populated with SOME of my available sticks - other people screenshots have only 2 slots due to fewer devices connected.  This is also a really poor display as it truncates the display of the device name.

As you can see in "stickdevices.png" (taken from device manager) I have 6 ch controllers.  These are created by the mode I use them in for other games such as DCS, elite and MSFS2020 and even Arma3 (chmanager.png); i believe the warthog Target software has a similar functionality.

In total my system has 7 HOTAS related "HID-compliant game controller" entries (which is possibly the list that is being enumerated to display available devices), once you include the rudder pedals (Thrustmaster .... TRP.. somehting.. i forget thier full name) but the game only choses to acknowledge 4 and the order they are listed in is bizarre... based on the truncation of the names, they appear to be listed in the order of 1,6,3,5 which, at BEST is utterly unusable as my stick (mode 1) is device1 and throttle (mode1) is device 2... which isn't even listed.

This is the most botched "supports HOTAS" implementation i've ever seen....

Thanks for the clear description - that helped a lot.

Looking in-game initially I had no controllers listed in the game.  I surmised this was possibly due to me having all my flight-input devices attached to the PC through a USB hub.

I unplugged the hub and plugged the devices directly into the PC itself, after which I had the following in the controls section:

    SWS_Control_List.png

This also re-introduced the "feature" that the mouse pointer was not visible in the menu screens and could only be used if the right mouse button was held down continuously.

Bizarrely, this actually worked for a few minutes and I could assign the YAW axis correctly to the MFG Crosswind.  I bound the axis and started a practice session and it was working correctly, however I did notice that not all of the hats on the warthog joystick were recognised with all 4-axis..

I tried to switch rebind YAW axis direction while in the practice mode and at this point the game went back to only recognising a single direction input on the MFG crosswind......

Going to try another experiment and will report back again.

    **edit**

I quit the game, restarted the game and went into controls and re-ordered the controller list to look like this:

    SWS_Control_List2.png

but it still will only recognise one range of motion on the rudder pedals again, so I am utterly confused - for a brief moment it worked after re-plugging everything (see above).  Then it suddenly and unilaterally stops recognising inputs again.....

The same for me. I have 5 devices connected and only two detected Saitek Rudder Pedals and Warthog Throttle. I need my joystick as well. I am extremely disappointed! ☹️

Only 2 devices detected by the game for me at any time (I have more than this), even when I can get the Warthog joystick and throttle to be recognized together it won't let me bind the throttle axis.  HOTAS is not implemented on this game as promised and there does not seem to be any official recognition of this on these forums?  Absolute disgrace, as far as we know we've been robbed and are expected to suck it up.
