I've done everything discussed in this thread. The only thing that got it to work again for a little while was to uninstall and reinstall. Then, unfortunately, my laptop battery died (my child unplugged it) and I haven't gotten it to run since. I even uninstall/reinstalled again.
EA, why would you release a game this buggy?!?! I've never had issues like this with other games. You should release a version without Easy anti-cheat (more like anti-run-the-program), see if that works, and update it later.
Update: Hours later, I did yet another uninstall/reinstall. The game launched itself at 70% and ran fine. Then, when it was almost done installing, it popped up the error code WHILE I WAS PLAYING. What voodoo is this? I'm leaving it minimized for now overnight in hopes that it will not quit on me, LOL.
So, I also have an issue with running the game from Origin directly. I have Windows 10 fully updated, updated NVidia drivers, Origin and Squadrons both installed on the same driver (D, not C).
The error I'm receiving every time I try to run the game is 'Settings.json: Missing JSON content!'. I went to EAC folder and repaired the program probably 20 times now, I can see there is Settings.json file in the Launcher folder. I really didn't pay for this game to have this issue when I can't even launch it -_- Frustrating, to say the least.
I haven't had that error, just the continuance of error 26. I tried the Steam installation, too, because that's a free trial with an EA subscription, but got the same error.
I guess I'm just going to have to wait till EA gets around to releasing a patch or update. There are many other errors players are having as well and it's making headlines on the tech vlogs, so hopefully it will be soon. I've never played Battlefront II, so I'll get my SW fix there for now. Just was really enjoying the immersive flight experience of Squadrons, though.
Also having launch error 26.. nothing is working to fix this, and its about a 50/50 chance whether i get into the game or it has error 26..
The error is clearly on the anti-cheat/EA side. Please fix it.
I have had the error 26 code on Steam since launch. I have been able to play twice, once on game launch day, but got kicked from the game and got the error everytime I tried to log back in.I was able to log in again without the error only after uninstalling the game,, reinstalling the game,, and then rebooting my pc. I was able to play after that, but once I exited the game the error 26 started up again. I do not want to have to do that every time I play. I tried to repair the anti-cheat, no luck. I deleted it completely and redownloaded the files through Steam file verification. Still get the error.
I can't be the only one having these issues.
That’s the same things that ha seven happening to me. I said I had got it fixed earlier In this thread, but it was only that one time and then back to error 26. Every once in a while it will just randomly open and not give me the error 26. But I will play it for an hour, and then quit. And when I get back to play it again, it does the error 26 crap again.
I have literally gotten the game to open 3 times since launch, and the problem still goes on.
I have faith it will get fixed, it’s just a matter of when. I got the game to play the campaign and that’s it so I’m Not worried about multiplayer. I will just have to wait until this problem gets fixed and then play it then.
Hello there
After the latest update I find that I too am hit with this issue, before which haven't had a problem.
Tried the following:
-Reinstalling the game
-Running a command line system scan
-Running Easy Anti Cheat repair software
-Checking that EAC and Squadrons are whitelisted in my anti virus
My system is a gaming laptop which is a Dell Inspiron i7559-763BLK 15.6" Full-HD Gaming Laptop US Layout Keyboard (Core i5, 16GB RAM, 256GB SSD, NVIDIA GeForce GTX960M) which has handled the game superbly.
Attached is the error report.
Hope we can resolve this 🙂
I'll bump this to keep it relevant until a community dev responds
Preordered this game a couple of months ago but just installed it last night and I'm getting an Error 26 message also. Just tried reinstalling the Easy AntiCheat software as recommended by Epic Games and got the same Error 26 message. My Squadrons game is located in my C: > Program Files 86 > Steam > steamapps > common > STAR WARS Squadrons folder.
3 weeks that people have been dealing with this error and this hasn't been patched yet? What's going on?
Same problem here. Hope that the devs patch it.
