Support for HORI Flight Stick on PS4?

What were you doing when the bug occurred? Step by Step detail is helpful. Trying to play the game and navigate menus, specifically controls menu
Where did this issue occur? Please include menu name or in game location. Controls menu and i can’t fly properly in-game.
When did this happen? (dd.mm.yy hh:mm) 02.10.20
How often does the bug occur? Every time (100%)
How severe is your issue? Can play, but it's highly frustrating
What happens when the bug occurs? Joystick not recognized as flight stick in controls menu
What do you expect to see? I expect to see my flight stick supported as the Thrustmaster is currently. However, it’s recognized as a regular controller so there are significant mapping issues.

What components were you using? PS4 PRo, HORI Flightstick.

I have a HORI Flight Stick (similar model as is used for Ace Combat). It’s not recognized at all by Squadrons as a flight stick. Rather it appears as a regular controller.  So even remapping keys is a truly suboptimal experience.  Even something as basic as throttle up/down does not work.  It’s extremely frustrating,

Is there an update planned to address this and potentially other flight sticks?

    @Axs4768Sxa2050 I’ve had this problem too. It totally sucks. The hori stick isn’t recognised, the stick and throttle is reversed. It also seems as if L1 or L2 is constantly pressed. I’m hoping there will be a patch soon. The hori stick is the premium stick for the PS4. I will be gutted if it’s not supported considering how poor the build quality of the thrustmaster stick.

    I have exactly the same problem. Which is a bummer, considering that HORI Flight Stick is a very good, but pricy flight stick. I thought that support for this stick should be obvious, so I'm disappointed that it's not supported.

    I am having the same issue. The Hori Hotas is a suboptimal experience at this point. Which is disappointing considering it is the premium ps4 sony licensed hotas. 

    I was able to remap the controls and reverse the pitch. However, some buttons register as duplicate from another button and hence can’t map a specific function to it.


    The biggest problem is the throttle. It needs to be in the middle neutral position to not register as an input and to accelerate I need to push it forward and then back to neutral to stop accelerating and maintain speed. This is really uncomfortable.

    The game is more enjoyable on the regular controller vs the hori at the moment which is hugely disappointing given it’s a PS4 made stick.

    Hopefully it is just part of the hotas support being a (welcome) day one patch and it just needs some work to implement soon. 🤞🏻

    After lots of tweaking I have mine set up as in the picture attached.

    Its a difficult stick to use because there is no twist control for yaw but the main issue now is the lack of 1:1 mapping on the throttle stick.

    It currently incrementally increases or decreases the speed incrementally based on which direction it is pushed in, regardless of the actual position.

    It should be a fairly straight forward fix. You could make a new operation mode in addition to smooth/step which is linked to the pressure on l2/r2. This is how the hori is hardware mapped.

    In addition to "Me too" I've also tried using this stick on PC. While Windows joy.cpl detects it as a HOTAS, the game refuses and only sees it as a controller. It's pretty much impossible to rebind, and the throttle is a bit weird (3 modes), which leads to either not working or controlling the menu (rb/lb).  Very disappointing to boot up and find it impossible to function.

    Additionally, several of the buttons are Dual Buttons (L1+R1, L2+R2, and L3+R3). None of these work in the rebinding.  It might be nice to add support for dual press for some commands (similar to the double tap, or just as its own detection), not just needed for this joystick, but could be useful for others.
