Epic store version won't stop saying it needs to Update

I've reinstalled the game twice.  The only time I've gotten the game to work was initially when it was installed to my C:\ drive.  I didn't want it there because that's a small SSD and I had Cyberpunk on it.  Never intended to install Squadrons there.

I moved the game from C: to D:, and the game refuses to launch after going through the easy anti-cheat check.  Origin just says "Update" all the time, no matter the method I've tried on verifying, repairing, moving, reinstalling, etc.

  • Have the same problem with the update request not going away.

The game also silently fails after the initial launcher splash is finished loading.

As there are no errors and I only have the inbuild Win10 defender, this is difficult to troubleshoot

  • What worked for me was to launch origin. Then on the top menu choose "Sign Out".

Then after signing in again, I was able to both get rid of the needs update problem and launching the game

  • I solved clearing Origin app cache. You can find a guide online. This also log you out, so I don't know if the cache clearing or the log out did the magic 🙂 However I solved the issue!
