The FIX for Audio Cutting Out
Product: Star Wars Battlefront II
Platform:PC
What is your issue related to? General
Summarize your bug I was noticing that every time the audio would cut out (especially on Kashyyyk), it sounded as if the multiple audio tracks were colliding or one of the tracks was corrupt. On Kashyyyk, it always sounded like there were multiple audio tracks playing at the same time for some reason. I don't really notice it on any other map. I adjusted my audio settings to the screenshot attached and played full back to back rounds on Kashyyyk and my audio survived when it never has before. The Fix Update: I just played 15 complete matches of GA Kashyyyk and my audio is still working. I have played over 50 matches of Galactic Assault matches in a row since I made this setting change with no issues so far. As far as I'm concerned the audio cutting out issue is fixed for me on my PC. My advice for DICE is to either disable or remove the "Continuous" music option as well as give the audio system an opportunity to recover when a new map is loaded. IMO, I believe this issue of the sound cutting out is the game's audio system crashing without the ability to recover. The ultimate trigger causing it is the exact moment all audio tracks play at once or in some combination. For instance: 1) Game action sounds 2) Game background music (I believe this is the "Continuous" music 3) Your player's audio command/emotes 4) Your mission commander's voice 5) Perhaps even other players around you I think this audio system crashing is random because each individual player has to have this exact scenario happen to them for the audio to crash. If you don't get this perfect storm, the audio keeps on working. For some reason, Kashyyyk appears to have the most audio tracks available to be played than any other maps which is probably why it happens on this map the most but it does occur on other GA maps although less.
