Re: Battlefront 2 HDR brightness out of wack

Atic,

I'm using a Samsung KS8500. I calibrated the TV for HDR based off of input from Rtings.com aside from a few minor tweaks.

https://www.rtings.com/tv/reviews/samsung/ks8500/settings

The in game settings are as follows:

HDR 10 TV Peak Brightness 16% (This is where the 2 boxes look exactly the same with no line on my TV)

Brightness 50%

I've tried lowering the brightness in game and on the TV. It only reduces the overall luminance, but the whites still look over saturated.

It seems this issue came with the last patch after the servers were down last week due to some issues. Its worked fine up until that point, but currently I've been playing this game with HDR turned off in my PS4 Pro settings and re-enabling it for other games due to this issue.

Thanks for the information! @ghost437 🙂

I have sent this on to the team for investigation!

    Thanks!

  • What's the latest on this issue ?

I just bought SW:BF2 for my PS4 and the poor image in menus and certain video footage is very striking with HDR on. The game play looks amazing though.

The best example is even just when the game starts. There are terrible halos around the "Star Wars Battlefront II" title screen. Also certain menu screens look very washed out. It's a lot better after turning off HDR.

I had the HDR setting to 14%. Brightness left at 50%. TV is a Sony XE93.

  • Same for me. Got this game Thanksgiving 2017 with the PS4Pro SW bundle and had the issue on a Sony x900E. Had the issue until I stopped paying in April 2018.

Just picked the game back up and now have a Sony x900F and a different PS4 Pro (Spider-Man). Same issue of over exposed whites on the splash screen and menus. During the game there is just this like coating on everything making it look a little washed out. I wouldn’t say it’s terrible and kills the gameplay, it’s just noticeable and not crisp.

I have the HDR-10 peak brightness at 14% and other brightness at 20%.

Like others have said...don’t have this issue with any other HDR game on the PS4 Pro.

    Thanks.

  • Any follow up on this issue. I have the exact same issue with this game. I have a Panasonic GX800b TV.

Also have the same problem. We have to turn off HDR in the PS4 setting for the game to not look horrible. This was reported over a year ago and it's still not fixed.

  • Same here.

Most of the game looks great, but deep blacks on the title screen, menus, and darker cinematics look awful.

  • I like how problems like this are marked as "solved", but there's never a follow-up with a solution, even two years after the fact

I'm closing this thread to stop it from being necroed.

If you have any issues with SWBF2, please make a new topic about your problems and what kind of steps you have tried to solve them.
