Parry/Counterattack Saber Heroes

Lightsaber combat can use just a little more complexity. It is perfect how simple and fluid it is, but can feel a bit underwhelming, especially in showdown (less chaos, more actual fighting, and typically with more skill). If we could embellish certain parts of the game, like blocking with lightsabers... and adding a counterattack mechanic....

i.e. holding block continues to parry oncoming attacks, but while holding block if you attack at the same moment as your attacker is attacking (pressing R2 at the same time, easily done when you find a spammers tempo) you will counter attack, staggering/pushing back your attacker. This would allow for literally anything else to follow: dodge, attack, use an ability, etc.

There will always be a spammer... a button masher, a panic pusher, a tenacious tapper... but for those of us who like to wield our controllers with finesse, there should be a way to counter attack. There is nothing wrong, really, with button mashing, as we all have been there, when nothing else matters... just that your light saber gets the last of that 8 hp... but there should be a "reward" for playing well.

This would also help tremendously when getting cornered, as you can get pinned up against walls with just one person spamming you, not to mention when players are so desperate to win they corner you 4v1.

It can do a small amount of damage, or none at all since it is meant to stagger the opponent. Counterattacks effect all assailants that struck you after your counterattack was executed (within a reasonable time window).
