this has been happening for at least 2 years I've only now been able to pin down the actual cause and reproduce it. This happens regardless of the driver version used.

  • If you do a search in the forum on DX12, you will see that it is not recommended (and provides little advantage) of running DX12.

As this would not be a considered a critical bug and, as such, will not be addressed, you'll want to set to DX11 and just go with it.

  • Thanks for the reply. I know "disable directx 12 is the accepted wisdom (which is code for "dice wont fix it" What I've managed to pin down is the crash is specific to the shadow quality HFTS setting and direct x12 If I set the shadow quality to the next lowest setting, still using dx12 no crash. I can use HFTS and max settings on dx11 just fine, But that's not the point of my report, the specific crash has something to do with the HFTS setting and how it interacts with dx12.

  • Hey Horus_Blackheart,
I changed the shadows to hfts, AND changed the graphics driver.
    Now it works.
On older computers t's done through the "NVDIA Control Panel",
But on Windows 10 and up, I'm pretty sure it's through the standard control panel.

    control panel> System> Display> Graphics,
then select the App (Battlefront II),
(My PC had two of them),
    >
    options,
and I switched it from "Let windows decide" (Which I think was the "NVIDIA GEFORCE RTX 3050 laptop GPU"),
    TO :"AMD Radeon Graphics"
    Works bueno.
