Re: Microstutter Graphics

@ObsidianVashti

driver can be uninstalled via the control panel, or you can use DDU at this link

At the end of the day it comes back to user preference for settings

I am still on driver version 419.17 have had no reason to update so havent yet

As to playing the game, i dont use vsynch, and tend to play in fullscreen (window) mode which uses its own form of sync

I gather you have tried setting vsync to fast , this setting is also meant to have no tearing and be a more improved version of initial vsync

  • @proxos666You should be hired at EA, put their excuse for "Customer Support" to shame. As far as I can tell changing VSync from "On" to "Fast" did the trick. Once in a blue moon I get a stutter but I think that's natural loading and rendering in high traffic zones. I can now play the game in full fidelity and "Ultra" graphics. I can't say thank you enough @proxos666 . I am forever indebted to you for helping me to get this game to run. I didn't even have to roll back drivers which is a relief when trying to keep Windows 10 as a whole running smoothly.

    Thank you, thank you.

    Looks like the complete tricks were:
    Antialiasing- FXAA: On
    Antialiasing- Mode: Enhance the application setting

    Antialiasing- Setting: 8x

    MFAA: On

    Power Management Mode: Prefer Maximum Performance

    Triple Buffering: On

    Vertical Sync: Fast

    Moreso putting this in writing on here for my own reference if I have to reset anything.

    Spoiler

    @ObsidianVashti Thanks for all your work guys, i was having the same issues, and for the life of me could not find any normal fix haha. changing those settings in the 3d settings the the nvidia control panel got me back to a steady 144 fps, where at some points i was only getting 5 fps.

    Hey! Sorry to bring out such an old post but I have the exact same problem and no matter what I change in the Nvidia panel, nothing changes, nothing at all, I'm really lost, I see a lot of people who manage to fix this problem, but I can't. I really need help.

    @Kyosos

    i can see your windows version 18363 is out of date , is still ok but it reaches end of support on the 11 May 2021 - see https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/release-information/

    now i can also see your monitor is a 4k gsync monitor although you are running non native lower at 2560 x 1440

    now so saying that one of the first things to check is disable gsync , there is a gsync bug that can occur where fps in any game will lower to like 24fps

    example - https://forum.systemera.net/topic/1038-low-fps-max-24-fps-disabled-gsync-to-fix/

    So for the Windows version I'll take a closer look, thank you.

    Yes I removed the native resolution because someone who tried to help me with my problem told me to do so. I put it back in native in this case.

    Ok, I understand that G-sync needs to be disabled but when I go to the Nvidia panel I don't see the ULMB option, is this normal?

    @Kyosos

    not sure i have a nvidia 2080 and have that option in the control panel , maybe turn off gsync under "setup gsync"

    i am running the same driver version 461.40 as you

    edit - quick google that is Ultra Low Motion Blur. Basically decreases ghosting and motion blur. It's not compatible with G-Sync and can only work at 85, 100, and 120Hz.

    so if your monitor doesnt go higher then 60 so likely why yo udont have it

    Alright I understand, you think the problem may be with my screen? Should I take a 144hz screen?

    @Kyosos

    no not really

    Turn off gsync , play in fullscreen window mode and put shadows to low , see how things are

    There is no change, no matter what I do it doesn't change absolutely nothing, I really don't understand where it can come from ... The game is generally smooth but if I do something like fight, put on my mount , open my map ... the game starts to lose control and mini freezes appear, it's quite annoying especially for immersion. I shouldn't have so much trouble running SWTOR ... Someone told me that Swtor uses CPUs badly, could that be?

    @Kyosos

    ok the pauses when opening of map and mount etc is more an engine issue then a setting issue

    fighting however should be fairly smooth though

    I don't really see an increase in temperature, in doubt I have a screen before the fight, and during the fight

  • Well, I decided to test with my partner's screen, a 1920x1080 screen without G-sync, it turns out that there is absolutely no problem when I play on her screen, the game remains very smooth and no freeze during fights. The problem therefore comes from my screen or the G-sync.

    Hello! Yes, I deactivated it, the problem is that even by deactivating it it does not work, I still have the mini freeze continuously. Coming back to G-sync, the only way I found to disable it is this (See screenschot)

    I just looked at your link, I will test this right away, if I understand correctly they say G-sync not working if V-sync is enabled too? So I have to find a way to turn off V-sync on my pc or do I have to do it directly on my games every time?

    He also says that for his games to be smooth he has to set the FPS limit to 57, do you think that's a good idea?

    Not surprisingly, it doesn't change anything unfortunately. I start to believe that I will never find a solution ... I keep looking with hope
