HDR crash with SWBF 2

Here is the issue. I have a 49" Samsung Super Ultra Wide LC49HG90DMNXZA. When I start SW BF 2 the HDR looks washed out and oversaturated. I start to load a game and it crashes to desktop after a while and my desktop acts a bit wonky for a few seconds. IT works without of course thankfully and looks amazing but I want to see this game the way its meant to be played. Seems the HDR in this game seems problematic at best and crashy at worst. I love this game but I want to be able to play this game in all its glory. I have 442.59 drivers from Nvidia. WHQL of course. so thoughts? Here are the specs on my PC. let me know your thoughts. thanks.

5820k 3.3ghz

16GB 2400mhz corsair vengeance memory

PNY 1080Ti 11GB blower

I have a 500GB Samsung SSD

then a 2TB HDSSD

and a 3TB WD black.

with a Enermax 240mm water Cooler.

Motherboard is Gigabyte GA X-99 UD4 rev 1.0

WIndows 10 Pro 64bit build 18362

  • Second question. does the monitor come with the necessary displayport plug in order to utilize HDR I would imagine it would otherwise that would moronic of Samsung not to supply one.

  • update. I suspect based on what I read in a review on amazon that Samsung does not provide a DP 1.4 enabled cable. which is beyond stupid as this monitor has HDR10 support. nice job dropping the ball Samsung and being el cheapo. I will update Friday evening once I get a displayport 1.4 cable from Newegg.com and do a test.

  • nm. seems this game just crashes to desktop. lol. even with HDR not enabled. wtf!? everything is smooth as silk, until I load into a online game (literally every kind) same outcome.

  • No. I haven't.  Didnt know it had any.  I'll give this a whirl tonight when I get home from work.  Thanx.  I'll update after I try this.

  • problem. the firmware that is present on the website is 1019 whereas the firmware on my monitor is set to 1021.0 so clearly their firmware on the website is older?

  • installed easy settings box software. installed the drivers. the firmware seems to be outdated (m-HG949CCAA-1019.0[0852]) compared to what I have installed since I have m-HG949CCAA-1021.0 firmware. Still crashes to desktop.

  • okay got HDR to work. seems I had local dimming off instead of auto. works on resident evil 3 demo, works on shadow warrior 2, not sure of what other HDR games I have but I will have to sift through and see. but either way Seems now that instead of going bonkers flickering off and on, and becoming moderately unresponsive and then crashing, SWBF2 just crashes to desktop. no error no nothing, just briefly loads the level a bit then freezes/pauses then crashes to desktop. thoughts?? is there a error log you can help me find that I can perhaps attach to one of these posts so you can look it over?

  • I am going to update this in hopes that someone actually knows what they are doing and has a solution or am I just screwed with constant crash to desktop issues until this issue is fixed. the game works without HDR, what is the word on this issue with the CHG90 monitor and the HDR, are you guys and gals ever going to fix this issue?
