- @proxos666 Thank you, will try, just have to wait for the minimum download to finish again, i reinstalled just to see if it made a difference
- @proxos666 thank you ever so much, alt enter didn't work, but the client_settings modifications made things work
- @proxos666 unfortunately, the game does not want to load, it brings up the loading screen, but the loading icon in the corner doesn't rotate, and the mouse cursor has the loading symbol, when i go to maximise the window the application just goes black and nothing happens, i have tried deleting the bitraider folder but that didn't work, any ideas? it did have an error message the first time i got to this stage, it said a certain file could not be found or something.

let the game fully download first usually the cause of missing dat file errors
if you want paste me the contents of the client_setting file to check settings look ok
- @proxos666 i had to manually add a refresh rate field, this is what is in it
[Renderer]

The height doesnt want to stay as 684 for some reason, yeah i have a wierd resolution due to this tv - proxos6666 years agoHero+
hmm
using a different monitor will solve issues me thinks 🙂
what is the true resolution available on the TV is it actually 1176 x 684 ? as native resolution
the edid on tv can be poor and using cru https://www.monitortests.com/forum/Thread-Custom-Resolution-Utility-CRU to create a known override for a set resolution can help
what also may be causing issues is that there is another resolution setting on startup and it is higher then what you have listed here
ordinarily i would say not to edit the other file but it may be worth testing for you
that file is at :\Program Files (x86)\Electronic Arts\BioWare\Star Wars-The Old Republic\swtor\retailclient and the file is called client_defaults
in that you will see it is set at
Width=1152
Height=864which is higher then your height setting , maybe test adjust this to 1176 x 684 if that is your maximum resolution
can always change it back
@proxos666i have it set at that so the edges of the screen are not cut off, native res i assume is 1920x1080. The full download is at 77% at the time of this post
- proxos6666 years agoHero+
having fullscreen as false and d3dfullscreen as false means it shouldnt cut off edges set as 1920 x 1080 unless that isnt the true resolution at the tv

@michaelsel28 whats the tv model ?
- @proxos666 it isn't just this game that is cut off, everything is, like at 1080 i cannot see the windows taskbar
- proxos6666 years agoHero+
some can do overscan like my old panasonic plasma what is the tv make and model
- @proxos666 i got it from my sister's friend so i don't actually have a remote with it, its a lukor, LUX-40-914-TVB
- @proxos666 changing the res in the client_default file fixed the issue of the game not going to the character select screen
- proxos6666 years agoHero+
having no remote sorta makes it hard to change settings i presume 🙂
the issue will be overscan by the sounds of it, google overscan tv should explain what it is

@proxos666the highest res i can have without it going to no video available is 1024x768 go to 1152x884 or above at least on fullscreen wndowed
- proxos6666 years agoHero+
sounds like its native pc output is only 1024 x 768 that is possible
edit - cable connection type may affect resolution available too
edit 2 - the only other thing i can think of is that some tv's had a setting to be enabled when connecting a PC that affected the resolution available too
- @proxos666 i can set the res of the pc to 1080 in nvidia control panel, it is just the tv i think, because with my laptop at res 1366x768 things were cut off aswell
@proxos666i will get a proper monitor at some point i think. At least the game is loadable
- proxos6666 years agoHero+
i found a manual for a luxor 32inch not sure how similar that is the problem
but it says switch to PC source. See Input selection section. Set the resolution that suits your viewing requirements.it then just says If you switch your PC to an unsupported mode, a warning OSD will appear on the screen. - @proxos666 it does have a pc mode but it has pc/vga so i may need a VGA connection which my PC does not have, it just has HDMI and DVI
- proxos6666 years agoHero+
i guess for now as you say the game is now loadable may be as good as can get for now
- @proxos666 it's loadable and isn't cut off at a certain res, i doubt the actual picture quality would be effected that much
- proxos6666 years agoHero+
agreed effort to outcome is the question now 🙂
@proxos666managed to set the in game res to 1080, without it saying video unavailable, i'm just now moving the UI to where i can see it
