I think I've found an easier workaround. Can someone try this please:

1. Launch the Origin client
2. Go to the Origin preferences and set the language to your preferred language (please let me know if it was not set to English), and see the special note below
3. Restart the Origin client to "apply" the language change
4. Go to the Sims 4 page page in "My Library"
5. Make sure The Sims 4 is set to the SAME language you set the Origin client to
6. Click the gear and select "Repair"
7. Try to launch The Sims 4

NOTE:

If the language in which you want to play appears in The Sims 4's language list, select it for The Sims 4 AND ALSO select it in Origin’s language list (from the Origin Presences panel accessible from Origin -> Preferences or Command+, ). Then “repair” The Sims 4 by opening the game page in the Origin client, selecting the gear icon, and selecting “Repair” from the list. It is critical that the language option you choose for the Origin client be the same language available from The Sims 4's list of languages. If you chose a language NOT from The Sims 4's list then the game will continue to not work.

These language options are known to not work (they are available in the Origin preferences but not The Sims 4's language list) and should NOT be selected from the Origin preferences:

Thai
