@cdcameron04 A missing plumbob is not a typical glitch with any version of Sims 3. It might have to do with mods and custom content, but if not (i.e. you've tested without), try evicting your sim in Edit Town and putting them back. As long as you don't replace your sim with a bin copy, they'll keep their job and relationships but lose their promised wishes and opportunities.
The inability to interact with open water is a known issue:

The red flashing can be eliminated by checking the box to "enable object hiding," which is with the other graphics options.
As far as a potential patch is concerned, we've had no news for a very long time. The only people who know aren't talking.
