Create a World - Edit in Game

I used Origin with a patch all the way up until it officially died last week, so now I'm sorta desperately looking for a way to get the Edit in Game button to work in CAW now that I have to use the EA app. I saw a YouTube video of someone creating a world and the button worked for him through the EA App, so that gave me a little hope that it could work. However when I hit it, it just says "Preparing the game..." and then brings up the Sims 3 launcher and then nothing else happens. 

I tried adding CAW to the EA app, removing any traces of Origin, moving the CAW file to different areas in my PC. I'm kind of stumped on how to solve this problem.
