Re: Why does the Sims 4 suck so much?

we shouldn’t have to PAY for content disguised as “expansion packs” that should be free. Come on now, you can’t seriously tell me it makes sense to make players pay to have pets, or to make them PARENT. You literally have to pay for everything and usually what you’re paying for isn’t even worth it because you’re just paying for  a buggy glitchy mess. That’s why people use mods. I’ve defended the sims for a while but after buying the sims 4 high school years, (yet another pack that was ridiculously overpriced) i’ve given up. I spent my hard earned money for a dumpster fire with clearly no love put into it and i’m angry. The only reason I haven’t completely gotten rid of the game is because I’ve spent so much money on it.

@simmerstasia , you do not have to pay to have your Sims parent/raise children... you only have to pay if you want a more detailed experience of parenting, which many people don't , especially if they are the type of people who mostly play with one Sim households (with Sims who love to party, go out, etc.)  or prefer to have couples without children. Those people wouldn't want to get the Parenthood GP.  But Players who love to play Sim families would want to get that pack!  Also, it is an excellent pack in my opinion. But you can still raise children without this pack, it just wouldn't be as detailed. 😉

Also, with almost every type of pack I have run into someone who thinks that pack should be in the base game.🤨  We would end up with no packs at all, just one humongous base game! 😅

  • Having a huge base game would somehow be worse? For who? The shareholders at EA. Seriously 95% of what they try and sell us via packs is all things that were previously just part of the game in earlier sims games. Not to mention a TON of earlier content like vehicles, open worlds, robbery/burglary, dynamic relationships and a entire aspiration system that was not a cakewalk to game.

In previous sims games it took a entire lifetime to complete their aspiration, now I can rags to riches starting homeless and with 0$ and be a millionaire in under 30 sim days, entirely completed at least 4 entire aspirations. The game is as shallow as a puddle unless you throw the cost of a used car at it. IF you had added every single pack to the base game for free you might actually start to be a actual sims game.

@PugLove888but you Do have to update even if you do not buy the pack and update has so many bugs and ruined the game with faces cross-eyed and sunken in, vampire run and werewolf run all messed up and only used on lots, not outside! Only with update did this happen! New wants and fears are repetitive and buggy, and townies spawn in friendship list without even meeting them?! ALL from UPDATES for new cash grabbing, buggy packs! You are Ruining this game and never will I buy another thing from money hungry cash grabbing EA!

@Skeeter55555 , I'm sorry I missed this response from you when you posted it.  😓
All Sims games have been buggy.  I still remember some of the bugs from the original The Sims game!
While some of the bugs might come from updates, many bugs are also fixed in those updates, as well as it is how we get new content and free features. 🙂

You mentioned that: "update has so many bugs and ruined the game with faces cross-eyed and sunken in".  I have not seen that.  Either I missed something when I had to miss playing for some time this Summer due to family issues, which would mean that that has since been fixed since I'm not seeing it now, ....

Or else you have a case of outdated Mods or Custom Content (CC), and that is what caused the warped faces. The developers can not be responsible for the thousands of Mods and CC items that exist.  It is up to the makers of Mods/CC to update the items that they create, and up to the people who download them to stay on top of the maintenance of all their Mods/CC that they choose to add to their game!  (I do not like to do such upkeep, so that is one of the main reasons that I do not play with Mods and CC.😅 )

@PugLove888 There's quite a bit in fairness to consider here.

EA has said they are supporting our creators and our rights to create for these games. In fact, it is because of these Mod creators that their stuff is now being used in the new releases we can either purchase or are officially offered as free stuff in an update we receive.

In truth, while it is up to each creator and those who choose to use these Mods and CC to deal with these broken contents... If EA would make quality products on a regular basis and then we wouldn't need Mods to fix what EA should have done themselves. If EA would make quality content to where we wouldn't need so many fixes/updates and then have to add more fixes/updates to fix/Update those fixes... we wouldn't need to update our CC much at all. Nor would we need to repair our games so often either. Thus, a much better gaming experience over all.

Additionally, much of these new content and features should have been included in the base game from the start along with some of the other DLC we are buying.

But I will add one more... which includes me too. We are such loyal fans of the Sims games. Yet, I can remember back in the Sims 2 there was a big issue when Bonvoyage was released in terms of how we played those games, as EA chose a new way to protect their games from piracy.

Then there was an upset in Sims 3 when Custom Content was not wanted or welcomed by EA. So, there was issues at times with Custom Content and Mods not working right as EA was finding a way to disallow them to function with each update/new pack we received.

Yet, with every Sim series… they were buggy and people are still complaining about the bugs in Sims 3 and in 2 that never got fixed. Yet, we encouraged EA to keep this trend going. How? We kept buying more packs, etc. even when the other packs were still not fixed. We did not stand up enough to EA and say enough is enough. We let this trend continue with each Sims series. Oh sure… we yell, we get angry, we vent on these forums… we may even threaten; but still EA goes on to become a billion dollar conglomerate and here we are still paying for broken games before the previous releases are fixed. Why? Because we keep buying these games and with this, we treat this all as status quo and an acceptable par for the course.

EA should know better than to keep putting out poor quality games and leaving us who pay for them and then to act as their game testers to help them fix these issues they failed to correct prior to game release. Yet, we also keep allowing this to happen by supporting this… as, for some… sweeping it under the rug by those who choose to defend EA and for the rest of us buying more more of their games.

I think with each series of the Sims some great things come out of them in comparison to the time before. BUT... there is just far too many broken games now in this series that we cannot play them right even for those of us who don't use mods. Today, I tore my Sims 4 out of my PC and am moving on until all these issues are fixed... if they ever get fixed. And if they don’t get fixed after a reasonable time and having invested for almost every DLC they made… well… Maybe it is time to get legal and get some reimbursement for this nonsense. It’s not like they cannot afford to do so, but then they can’t cause this will not fair well with their stock holders. So, we will see.
