If you have MC Command Center, one of the things it does is marry off NPCs and start NPC pregnancies. This might be an MCCC thing rather than a game thing.
If so, it's customizable and you should be able to adjust the settings. It's probably under MC Population.
I have noticed quite a few single parent NPC’s in my game as well although I’m on console so it might not be an MCC issue. I only noticed because I was browsing my unplayed households and I’d never seen random single parents spawn before, it’s usually just households of a single person

It's the base game that spawns single black mothers, with a teenage black daughter and a son (usually different ethnicities). I feel really uncomfortable that all the single parents are black, at least have some variation in ethnicities, and some single fathers.

The vanilla game has a preference for single parents. If you bother this bienchen have a mod that get rid of the single parents. I use it in my modded game and never encounter again a single parent family.
Sims is a shelter perfect world but have so many single parents (mostly black/asian with blonde hair)... this is weird. (And I miss that the game don’t really create families with two dads or two moms)
Sounds like this could be related to an issue I posted about where the spawned children of single parents look absolutely nothing like their parents at all. This seems to happen especially often when playing in San Myshuno for some reason. I wonder if maybe these threads should be merged?
