Yeah, my Very Inspired, level ten cooking, level ten gourmet cooking Sim attempted to make Pizza and started a fire immediately. Luckily, she’s finished Freelance Botanist so she extinguished it like a boss, but should it really catch on fire the first time she uses it? (I was trying to make Curious Pizza because I was curious! so maybe the game thought I was being too ambitious? But she’s level ten!)
I had her wife who’s finished Nerd Brain upgrade it in hopes that it helps. I’d really rather their new house not catch on fire every time she cooks.
- @xochiquetzl_xkvn Hi ♥ (long time no see) Do you own all the 3 last expansion packs? Because I don't have this bug (and neither the other one with the stove catching fire randomly), and I don't own HSY, GRO and HR either... Maybe is something related to one of these packs?

Hi, @GiardiniDiMarzo ! (Yeah, I had… an eventful spring and summer.)
I have HR and HSY but not GRO.
Honestly, though, it seemed to me like all the reviews had fires. I assumed it was an intended feature… but thought it would be tied to cooking skill and mood, like regular cooking.
@xochiquetzl_xkvn I checked the other thread and the original poster has only HSY, maybe it's that EP the problem... 🤔 other players mentioned their sims had the Fear of Fire... I think these two bugs can be related somehow

@GiardiniDiMarzo So far so good on the upgraded pizza oven, but one is a small sample size. 🤣
She definitely is NOT afraid of fire, fwiw…

I wonder if distance is a factor in fire risk. Like all Sims, when she’s Inspired the easel is irresistible. She’s a spellcaster, so she was upstairs and a room over because she has Transportalate and EASEL upstairs and a few rooms over from the kitchen.
Start pizza, go paint, VERY TENSE moodlet, visible flames… Extinguish like a boss. Do not receive pizza because the maker caught fire before it was finished.
I mean. I was watching the pizza oven for her 🤣, but maybe the game thinks leaving the oven to go that far away is reckless and is punishing her.

Same here, the waffle maker keeps starting fires, sometimes several times in a row. I’m gonna stop using it. My poor sim can’t afford that.

@xochiquetzl_xkvn I don't think it's a distance thing. All the times I've had the fires, my sim was standing right next to the pizza oven. She was working the stand, so she wasn't far away from the oven.

Hi, I'm replying to your hypothesis. I don't own any of these packs either (HSY, GRO and HR) and my SIms' kitchens catch in fire all the time since I bought Home Chef Hustle. Usually, when they use the pizza oven or the waffle maker. The cooking skills level doesn't seem to affect it at all.

I’m back!
I’ve rotated back to the household with the constant fires. It’s Hounds Head in Brindleton Bay. If I cook in the kitchen, especially on the curved counters, CONSTANT fires. Every use of pizza oven or waffle maker results in a fire.
If I set up a food stand in the back yard, she can use both of them just fine. It’s that kitchen, somehow.
Lot traits are Home Studio and Island Spirits. Only lot challenge is Prairie Grass. Main cook is level 10 cooking and gourmet cooking, and is married to someone who finished Nerd Brain and has upgraded the appliances. No one in the Household is afraid of fire. We were cured of it ages ago after witnessing a neighbor set his kitchen on fire. Also she has completed Freelance Botanist and is fireproof.
My other households are all fine. No fires.
The counters are the S. Cargeaux counters, and the pizza oven was on one of the rounded counters. The waffle iron was in the corner next to the wall.
P.S. I have successfully used the appliances in Sulani, in one of the little starters. I think I used them on the food stand, but might have used the BlandCo counters. I know I used BlandCo and Vault counters in San Myshuno and had one fire out of probably 20 or more uses. I also used them extensively in Henford-on-Bagley on the Cottage Living counters as well with no fires, and in Windenburg on the Vault counters and had one fire out of probably a dozen uses (and set the cat on fire, which I didn’t think was possible! She survived, at least).
Also I recently purchased GRO.

Bosselady has a mod out to help with the fires - Fewer Small Appliance Fires. It now includes ALL small appliances, including pizza ovens, waffle makers, and fuse boxes!: https://www.curseforge.com/sims4/mods/fewer-small-appliance-fires
Hopefully this helps if this is a bug.
