Re: [ARCHIVED] [GRO] Infant won’t achieve milestones

I’m having this issue as well. My infant will not achieve milestones no matter what I do. Infants in another save lost all their milestones when they left the lot (jogging with dad) and now cannot regain them. Resetting the infant does nothing.

Hey @crinrict , this was my first post sorry didn't at mention you in this

I've had this happen in my game. I played the same household/lot raised three children from infants no problem when i moved out my oldest to her own lot and played her lot for a while when i returned to my previous lot my new infant (4th child) lost all of his milestones and now isn't able to get anymore. It goes thru the action like it is about to happen but then nothing happens.

I have evicted my family and moved them back into the same lot, and it didn't work. I have also reset my infant by right clicking him and reseting the object. I have also evicted the family and moved them to another lot. And repaired my game and my game is updated to the latest patch. So I'm not sure why this is happening.

    I don't use any mods.

Hey @crinrict , I just noticed with my recent game play that this is now happening each time I try and look at the toys on the playmate as an infant. So it's preventing my infant from reaching his own milestones. However I was able to get the lift head milestone back once I did tummy time with my adult sim and infant. I'll update this thread to see if it works without the playmates on my lot.

Yes, once i removed my play mates from the lot and did tummy time again, i was able to get two more milestone, roll over to tummy and roll over to back. I will try this again because my next bunch of children are about to graduate from high school and i will be moving them to another lot and playing that lot for a while.

but i will note that all of my sims on my original family lot lost access to their milestones before the split and move happened.

NOTHING WORKS. None of my infants are able to reach milestones. I have tried everything suggested on this thread. Im so upset! I cant play my game because of this bug!! I tried repairing. Removed all mods. Eviction. Nothing will work. Infant still does absolutely freaking nothing. It is unable to achieve any milestones at all.

  • Probably silly question:  are you actively playing the household where the bugged infant lives when you try to achieve milestones?

I ask because I have a sim who got an NPC sim pregnant without me knowing (through mods), then got a girlfriend, got engaged, got her pregnant, and eloped all before his first son was born.  You know, like sims do.

Anyway, the first son lives in a household that I don't actually play with his single NPC mom.  Wanting my sim to be a good dad, once his first son hit the infant stage, I started having dad invite his son over to hang out (don't ask me how that works; he just talks on the phone and then his infant son appears, alone and unable to move, on a little placemat on the curb).  Further wanting to be a good dad, I decided to try to work on infant milestones with son #1 while he was visiting.

What I discovered is exactly what you're describing:  the bars say he is making progress towards milestones, but he never actually gets them.  Since it was my first ever experience with sim infants, I thought it was just infuriatingly difficult to get these milestones, until son #2 came along (this one is actually part of the active household) and the milestones came like butter.  So, it seems that when a sim is not part of the active household, they cannot unlock milestones no matter what.

I have infants across multiple households failing to complete milestones.
I've read through the suggestions and tried some of them.
I've tested with and without mods.
I have one family with twin infants (nightmare).
I have several other families with infant stage and rotate play through them.
Some milestones complete and others don't.
I looked up all the milestones and then realized there were a lot that despite the interactions they do to trigger these milestones, nothing every happens.
It varys which ones but commonly are the crawling, standing, clap, wave, smile, talk.  I get the diaper blowout, peed on caregiver, some of them get the learned to grasp or rollover where others didn't/won't.  The travel/vacation and visit family works while first visitor doesn't.  It's so frustrating.
Oh and one infant keeps getting duplicate milestones, they don't show as dups they just pop up two or three times after receiving the milestone.

Just had this issue with my infant getting the action/notification for the crawling milestone. After four notifications, the milestone is still locked and all he can do is scoot. I can’t evict my family bc they have a garden and cow plant (part of a challenge). This is the second infant for this family first generation. First infant no issues. No mods ever used.

I'm having this issue now as well after switching to a family during rotational gameplay. I've never had it before and am not keen on evicting and moving the family back in since I'm not sure what that will do to their garden.

Edit: I have installed the allcheats mod and am now brute-forcing the milestones with cheats. I think the "reach" milestone was clogging up the other milestones as "grab" automatically triggered as soon as I cheated "reach". Hopefully now the issue is fixed. If not, at least I know I can cheat it.

Update: Cheating the offending milestone(s) (reach and a couple of gross motor ones) seems to have fixed the issue for me as milestones are now triggering correctly. I tried to pay attention to which milestones the infant was attempting to trigger based on their animation and cheated the ones that weren't triggering properly. It seems to be working now.
