have you tried resetting the cat with the cheat resetsim firstname lastname ? You can also try resetting the grim reaper even if you don't see him anywhere, that sometimes unstucks the whole process.

- I did attempt to reset each of the sims in the lot, including the cat, and nothing happened. Didn't know I could reset the reaper. -- I decided to exit the game without saving, since it wasn't too long since last I saved. And immediately bought an Age-Down treat for my cat. My solution for now, don't let the cat die. 😛
Did it occur repeatedly ? Most of the time, glitches like this don't occur the second time.
If it occurs repeatedly would you be willing to share your save (preferably before you bought the treat if you still have that ?
