Re: Sims 4: my game is broken since the update of july 2021

@puzzlezaddict I think I know what the problem is. I tried putting off my mods, cc,... and then it works perfectly. Do you have any tips on how to find the broken mod or cc?

@puzzlezaddict I downloaded Tray Importer for cc clothes that are broken. I don't know how I can see wich build cc (idk how to name it) is broken. Also when I want to make a new household I can't because it won't load, so I don't know how to see if the cc works or not. I think I need to do this in steps, like remove all my mods and cc from the mods folder. Then add 100 mods and cc back to see if it still works. And then keep adding 100. I don't know what else I could do since I can't do anything. Do you have a better idea?

  • @N0re5  You can definitely try your approach of testing 100 files at a time.  While the 50/50 method is technically (mathematically) faster, if it's not working for you, then definitely try something different.  Either way, the idea would be to add all the custom content that doesn't prevent your game from loading, then test further (i.e. in Build mode) if necessary.

@puzzlezaddict I tried everything and now it's even more broken. ☹️ I accidentally removed some things I shouldn't have and then I couldn't open the sims 4. I putted them all back and now my game looks like this. The building mode is still broken, everything still is. I also removed origin from my computer and installed it again, but that doesn.'t help either. I'm scared to remove the sims 4 from my computer because I bought a lot of expansion packs and they are expensive.

  • @N0re5  Your packs are owned by your Origin account, not your computer.  So if you did uninstall Sims 4, you could reinstall all of your packs for free.

However, you don't need to uninstall and reinstall, at least not yet.  Please instead start by clearing Origin's cache:

    https://help.ea.com/en/help/faq/clear-cache-to-fix-problems-with-your-games/

Next, open your Origin game library, right-click on the Sims 4 icon, and select Repair.

Before trying to play, please go into Documents > Electronic Arts and move the entire Sims 4 folder to the desktop.  (Or rename it if you prefer.)  This will prevent the game from loading any of your current content, including your saves and cc, but it's more important right now to see whether things are back to normal.

If you still see the borked user interface in a new save in a clean folder, then yes, you'll need to uninstall and reinstall Sims 4.  But again, you'll keep all your packs; the only thing you'll lose is the time it takes to download the game.

@puzzlezaddict Everything works fine now that I've started a new sims 4 game. But how do I get my saves and cc back? I'm also going to do the 50/50 method to see wich of my mods are broken, and if everything works then, I think it might be the whole saved sims 4 game. In that case I'll just have to start all over.

I also wanted to say thanks for helping me!

@puzzlezaddict The problem is definitely my cc and mods. I just added them to the new sims 4 game and everything is broken again, so I guess I just have to find out wich one is causing me all of this.

  • @N0re5  When you do the 50/50 method, you'll likely find that many if not most of your mods and cc items are fine, and those are safe to add back in once you've tested everything.  After you do this, test one last time, then you can add your saves and Tray files as well and (hopefully) pick up where you left off.  Since you know that your mods and cc are causing this issue, it's reasonably likely that your saves are fine.
