@MrsStruts  Some of the errors in your dxdiag reference a component of DTS APO4 Service, which is [takes a moment to google] audio software that may have come pre-installed on your computer.  Try killing the service in the Task Manager before you play and see whether it makes a difference.  At worst, your audio doesn't work at all, but then you can just reboot your computer and the service will restart as well.

If that doesn't help, try playing in a clean boot:

If that doesn't help either, try playing while your computer is completely offline.  You can sign into Origin and put it in offline mode, then disable wifi and/or disconnect the ethernet cable before pressing Play.

By the way, are you saying you did a clean uninstall and reinstall of the graphics driver?  Your driver is from July, so it seems like either you reinstalled the version provided by HP or Windows installed one for you.  The driver should still work fine, as long as it's not corrupt; I'm just asking so I know whether you've already reinstalled it.

    Hey there, thanks for replying to my issue. I had been seeing your answers all over the place and was hoping you'd reach out with some advice.

    I disabled all the Realtek applications and that made no difference. I tried it with being offline, no Ethernet plugged in, and it made no difference. In fact it slowly started getting worse last night as I was trying all this. The computer used to crash and immediately restart but it got to where it would restart and the monitor remained dark, the Windows login screen never came up. Only a hard restart with the power button would fix it.

    So I went for the Windows 10 reinstall after all this. It made it through the install but just after it started installing updates, the computer crashed and never recovered. When you turn it on, the screen stays black and the monitor acts like it's not getting an input. Pretty much sounds like something gave up the ghost, maybe the GPU?

    Anyways, this thing is going back in the box and back to Best Buy. I'm a little reluctant to get another computer with an RTX 2660 but I think this is an isolated incident (hopefully).

    @MrsStruts  The hardware in your computer is of good quality overall, and while Omens are more expensive than is strictly necessary, build quality isn't normally an issue.  So yes, it's probably an isolated incident.  At any rate, having someone from Best Buy look at the computer (or just replace it) is a good idea, since reinstalling Windows should definitely not go wrong like this.
