If you do this, please back up any critical data beforehand, preferably on an external hard drive or a free cloud storage account (Google Drive, Dropbox, etc., but not OneDrive, to keep things simple).
If you're not comfortable with the above process, it might be easier to start fresh with a new admin user account on your computer. You could make the account, decline to sign into OneDrive, redirect Documents as originally described, and then move your Sims 4 content into the new user account. If you need help with moving the content, let me know, but it should be easy once you have the new user account set up the way you want it.
And just to be clear, you wouldn't need to buy Sims 4 again or even reinstall it. Any installed program is accessible from any account; it's only the user files that are separate.
