Re: Corrupted Save Files sims4

@soup443  Your first screenshot looks fine.  For the others, the way the saves are numbered may be the problem.  For any save that is NOT numbered 000000xx , try renaming it to Slot_0000001x.save, starting with 10.  You can ignore the saves that end in .verx for now—they're backups of the main save files with the same numbers.  But you can try renumbering them too if your main saves still don't load.  Just make sure to choose a different number and delete the .verx extension.

The saves' numbers need to be exactly eight digits long, and you can use any hexidecimal digit, as in, 0 to 9, a to f.  But the game sometimes has problems with saves with very high numbers.

i think i did something wrong because now all my previous corrupted saves are the same game but its not the save i want.

  • Hi I'm having problems trying to play my older saves.

I've stopped using OneDrive and have started using my local documents for my saves. The Paths are the same and I have also tried renaming the .verx extension.

My main problem is that when I try to load my old save it just loads my current/newest one. I just have one of my old saves and the new save in the file but when I had my other ones in there they all did the same thing as well.

I feel like I didn't explain that well so my step by step process was

Click load game - Click on old save file to load (  Slot_00000010.save  ) - New save loads up instead (  Slot_00000011.save  )

The old files name was originally Slot_0000078e.save and the (.ver0 - .ver4) files were the same as well but I changed them after it still didn't load with just the .verx changed

(and just in case its relevant  there was also never a .ver1 or .ver2 for this save just the 0,3, and 4)

@Yellowisabadname  Please remove all these save files except for the first one (Slot_00000010.save), and see whether it loads.  You can delete the .ver3 and .ver4 files, which are too small to be proper saves and therefore can't be loaded.  But .ver0 and .ver1 might be fine, so you can try loading those separately; just renumber them and delete the .verx, for example Slot_00000012.save.

  • with just that save in the file it says "Create a new game" and nothing else.

when I UN-synced my files from OneDrive  my documents folders was "locked" onto OneDrive and wouldn't stop and I had to do a whole bunch of stuff to get it back to just my local one. In the process, my Electronic Arts folder got deleted. "luckily" for me My OneDrive account still had it all saved and I could re-download it and put it back but that's when some of my saves stopped showing up.

......Is it possible that my saves got corrupted after downloading them from OneDrive? It does say on all of the saves in the properties that they are not on OneDrive and the path is correct.

I have 37 saves total, while you're reading this I will be going through each one and seeing which one works and not and I'll be going through them and doing the renaming thing.

  • HEY!! so i Fixed it! I didn't have a cache folder and I put my old one back in and my saves started loading. and also weirdly enough the EA app updated for me and now the game keeps crashing so now that's EA's problem to solve lol. but THANK YOU for your help!!

@Yellowisabadname  That is a very strange fix.  Which cache folder do you mean?  One should have generated on its own if necessary unless something was blocking Sims 4 (or the EA App if relevant) from writing to that location.
