Re: Is this computer good for sims 4?

@ytmkm8butiw2  Yes, this computer is great for Sims 4, in fact a bit of overkill, not that that's a bad thing.  If you're also shopping for a monitor, I'd suggest looking at one with a 2560x1440 resolution and/or a higher refresh rate: the 3060 can more than handle the load, and the game will look more crisp and clear (high res) or smoother (high framerates) as a result.

You don't need to spend that much money for the hardware though.  These two have the same RTX 3060 graphics card and processors that are just as good for Sims 4, with the second one having a better CPU and more storage:

This one has an even faster GPU that's even more overkill for Sims 4, plus a better processor than the two above.  Sims 4 won't ever use all that power, but you might appreciate if you end up playing another game that's more demanding, like Hogwarts Legacy or something similar:

This is also worth considering if you're not restricted to Best Buy.  Its specs are the same as the first model I listed:

There are a lot of options even on the Best Buy site, and far too many on various other sites to summarize effectively.  If you'd like more suggestions and are looking for particular features, let me know.  And if you have more questions in general, please feel free to ask.

Thank you so much!! Do you perchance have any specific recommendations for monitors, or would any with either of those specs work? Also, would the computer listed also work for other lowkey games. I’m not a serious competitive gamer, but was wondering if it’d still be able to run stuff like minecraft? I know you mentioned the other could handle games like Hogwarts legacy. Thanks so much for the help!!!

@ytmkm8butiw2  Minecraft would run great on any of these computers.  Other, less-demanding games should be fine too, with the caveat that some very old games might not run in Windows 10 or 11 for compatibility reasons.  Without knowing what games you play, I can't speculate, but a quick search of "[game title] Windows 11" should give you an idea.

Almost all monitors work with almost all computers.  Any standard monitor you'd buy would be compatible, but if you want to make absolutely sure, it just needs to support DisplayPort and/or HDMI; the graphics card in whatever computer you pick out will have both ports.

Other than 2560x1440 and/or a higher than 100 Hz refresh rate, the other detail to look out for is the panel type.  IPS has the brightest and most vibrant colors, but a VA panel would still look very good in a dark room.  I have a VA monitor because I wanted 1440p and 144 Hz, and I didn't want to spend the extra to also get IPS; I always play in a dark room and it's fine.  But if you play with some ambient lighting, or you really want the colors to pop, then IPS is a must, probably more important than either the resolution or the refresh rate.  Avoid TN panels at all costs.

If you see a monitor or two you like, feel free to link them.  Or I can search if you want; just let me know your budget for the monitor and your priorities in terms of the specs, in case there aren't any good options with everything in your price range.

@ytmkm8butiw2  In terms of specs, the monitor is fine: it's VA rather than IPS, but that's a reasonable choice if you're playing in a darker room.  The brand is not the best though, reading some of the reviews, it sounds like the panel is relatively low quality.  So I'd choose something else unless you're comfortable taking a risk on this one.

Personally, I'd spend the $20 extra and go with something from a trusted brand, for example one of these:

or an IPS monitor that's significantly brighter if that matters to your setup:

I realize these are more expensive, but this is the screen you'll be looking at the entire time you play, all the time.  It's not much money for an upgrade that affects your entire playing experience.
