My sims 4 game closing after updating to new version of windows 10

@anikrilor  I saw a few reports of this in the last month or so, but other affected users said that another Windows update cleared up the issue for them.  If you don't have any pending updates, you can try running a couple of basic checks of your Windows system files:

• Hit Windows key-X
• Choose either “PowerShell (Administrator)” or “Windows Terminal (Administrator),” whichever option is offered
• Inside the window that appears, copy and paste “DISM.exe /Online /Cleanup-image /Restorehealth” without quotes, and enter
• The system will start validating soon. If it throws an error, please list it here
• After it reaches 100%, hit Windows key-X again
• Again, choose “PowerShell (Administrator)” or “Windows Terminal (Administrator)”
• Inside the window, copy and paste “sfc /scannow” without quotes, and enter
• Post the message you receive here

Restart your computer, hit Windows key-i, select Update & Security, and click the box to check for updates.  If any install, restart again afterwards.

If you use a third-party antivirus, or even if you use Windows Defender but have enabled Controlled Folder Access, please also make sure that you've set exceptions for TS4_x64.exe and EADesktop.exe.

I didn't get any error message, but when copying in sfc /scannow I got a message saying: Windows Resource Protection could not start the repair service

I didn't know if all this I was surpose to do, was after installing the new version or before?

@anikrilor  Restart your computer and try again.  The sfc command should always be able to run, even on a fresh install of Windows.  And please do run DISM first if you haven't already.

You didn't tell me if I'm surpose to do this before or after installing the windows update that shut down my game?

So yes install all updates.

I've tried restarting my computer and doing the two tasks several times now, but still get the same message when trying to run sfc /scannow

@anikrilor  Please post a screenshot of the entire PowerShell window when you've attempted to run sfc and get that error.  Please also let me know whether DISM ran to completion.

As for the update that initially broke Sims 4 for you, have you currently installed it, or are you still rolled back to the previous version?

DISM run all through, and have the update that are braking my sims game currency installed. The screenshot is too big so I cannot attach it, but it only written what I said earlier here, Windows Resource Protection could not start the repair service.

I also having problems with some of the microsoft solitaire games after doing this update

@anikrilor  Try running sfc in safe mode.  Here's how to access it:

Please keep in mind that you'll need your password, NOT your PIN, to sign in while in safe mode.  If you don't know your password (and I promise your account has one), find or reset it first.  You should be able to reset it if necessary through your Microsoft account, since that account link is how you'd be signing into your computer with only a PIN.

If sfc doesn't run in safe mode, try this command:

DISM.exe /Online /Cleanup-image /Checkhealth

and let me know what result you get.
