Characters in the Sims issue

Hey guys, I'm new to the whole Sims thing but I'm experiencing some issues lately.

As soon as an event starts, my sims just stop doing anything, like really anything. They don't go to the bathroom, feed their kids, nothing... They just stare at nothing and start talking to themselves and when the event if done, they stay in that state, and it frustrates me cause at first it started with the father and now the mom and the older sibling AND the nanny Cassidy 😭😭

Idk what to do. The first time when it happened with the dad I had to kill him so he could function again, but this time idk what to do with the others, and I don't want to kill them as well 😭

Please if someone knows what to do or anything.... Cause I really need your help
