Re: Issue with graphics since update 21/09/2024

@ThunderLeaff  Your dxdiag lists some generic Windows update errors, so please start with a couple of basic checks of your Windows system files:

  • Hit Windows key-X
  • Choose either “PowerShell (Administrator)” or “Windows Terminal (Administrator),” whichever option is offered
  • Inside the window that appears, copy and paste “DISM.exe /Online /Cleanup-image /Restorehealth” without quotes, and enter
  • The system will start validating soon. If it throws an error, please list it here
  • After it reaches 100%, hit Windows key-X again
  • Again, choose “PowerShell (Administrator)” or “Windows Terminal (Administrator)”
  • Inside the window, copy and paste “sfc /scannow” without quotes, and enter
  • Post the message you receive here

Restart your computer, hit Windows key-i, select Update & Security, and click the box to check for updates.  If any install, restart again afterwards.

For the issue itself, your graphics driver is from 2018, and I would be completely unsurprised if it were incompatible with the DirectX 11 version of Sims 4.  You can get the newest-available driver from AMD here:

https://www.amd.com/en/support/downloads/drivers.html/processors/ryzen/ryzen-2000-series/amd-ryzen-5-2500u.html

Run the installer as an admin: right-click the download and select "Run as administrator."  Restart your computer after installing and before trying to play.

If you get the same issue, please switch to DirectX 9 mode, as described in the post I linked earlier, and let me know whether it helps.

Hi! I've managed to get it sorted with downloading a new driver!

Thanks for your help, I know my laptop is old but I'm not in position to get a new one at the moment! It was working fine prior to the new update and kits but all good now!!

    Thanks again 🙂

Hello! I followed the instructions you recommended and was hoping you could help me too! these past few weeks i have spent hours trying to trouble shoot why my sims game is choppy when moving around the screen. ive updated my graphics card did Driver Easy updating all drivers, checked my PC for optimizations, etc. I dont know why it suddenly would be bad. I have a new PC 16GB RAM, AMD 6500 XT GPU Ryzen 5000 CPU (i think lol, i am not a computer expect but i have been feeling like one lately) checked my network, etc. the first DISM check came back 100 with no errors, can the sfs scan said the following. I tried to search for the OFFLOGFILE flag with the path it said but I dont see anything by that name.  I am running my sims 4 on DX 11.

Beginning verification phase of system scan.
    Verification 100% complete.

Windows Resource Protection found corrupt files and successfully repaired them.
For online repairs, details are included in the CBS log file located at
windir\Logs\CBS\CBS.log. For example C:\Windows\Logs\CBS\CBS.log. For offline
repairs, details are included in the log file provided by the /OFFLOGFILE flag.

@Mistyverse00x  The message from sfc means it did its job, and no further action is needed on your end, at least where sfc is concerned.  The only reasons to check the log would be curiosity or if sfc said it found corrupt files and was unable to repair some of them.

For the issue itself, please run a dxdiag and attach it to a reply.

Please also get rid of Driver Easy, which is typically more trouble than it's worth, as are all similar apps.  It's best to manage driver updates yourself, although Windows does a reasonably good job of that on its own these days.
