Re: User not entitles to language - but repairing installs wrong language

@n4cho_SixtySix  Some regions still receive a language-locked version of Sims 4.  Since the game is now free to play, we're hoping that will change, but in the interim, there's nothing you can do on your end to enable English for your daughter's account.  She's already received the Polish/Russian/Czech version, and your only option there is to contact EA customer support and have it removed from her account.

For your account, you should be able to switch back to English without uninstalling and reinstalling the entire game, but you'll need to install Origin, at least temporarily.  You can download it from here:

https://answers.ea.com/t5/Origin-Client-Web-Technical/Downloading-and-installing-Origin-Windows-and-Mac/m-p/11915666

Open your Origin game library, right-click on the Sims 4 icon, select Game Properties > Advanced Launch Options, select English from the dropdown menu, and let Origin repair.  Then test the game.

If Origin thinks you don't own Sims 4, I would recommend NOT redeeming your free copy, as you may also receive the language-locked version, depending on where you live.  Instead, uninstall the game itself and download it again from the EA App.

    Thanks for a comment

I've been on chat with support for 90 minutes... we did not get anywhere. Game was removed from account few times, never got an option to install English version. To my direct question, if Sims 4 is region locked for language, agent said it's not, so slightly confused now. The conversation ended up suggesting me that this is a bug and I should post the question on this forum for officials or community managers to respond.

Question then about Steam version. How does that work exactly? I have installed it and it clearly gives me more language options. But when launching, EA App starts and asks to permanently link EA account with Steam account. That's fine on it's own but what happens then with languages?

Also, I have a boxed version of one of the DLCs purchased. Would I then redeem it (serial key) in EA App? Or do I need to purchase Sims DLC for Steam version only through Steam?

@n4cho_SixtySix  When you're launching the Steam version, you get the language options Steam offers no matter what's tied to your EA account.

If you redeem a code in the EA App, you'll be able to download that pack (and any others you own in the App) into your Steam install, and the packs should load in-game.  Once you have the Steam version installed, login to the App and click Download on any packs you own there, without also downloading the base game a second time.
