Re: Battlefield 3 directx function getdeviceremovedreason error

As you changed your hardware it could be related to your graphic driver build. Did you tried older or even the Nvidia beta drivers? Check that you have the latest version of the Nvidia physx driver.

Even if your system should be totally fine running BF3, go to your custom settings of your video-card software and disable all extra options for enhanced graphics and set the preferences for AA and anisotropic to “use application settings”.
Launch the game, if the issue is solved, you can try to set the graphic options higher step by step. Some graphic setups or boosts from your driver can cause trouble with the gamecilent.

Sometimes, this issue can be related to the cloud storage.
Open your Origin client, click on “Show Game Details”. Then you go to the cloud button on BF3 and uncheck the “enable cloud storage for all games” box. Launch the game.
If that helped, you can try to enable the cloud storage after a restart; it might work after with the cloud storage function. Make sure to use the local data when the information box popping up.

Cheers
Basti

Having the same error. Thought a little more detail would (?) be helpful:

    Error message:

DirectX function "GetDeviceRemovedReason" failed with DXGI_ERROR_DEVICE_HUNG ("The application's device failed due to badly formed commands sent by the application. This is an design-time issue that should be investigated and fixed."). GPU: "NVIDIA GeForce GTX650 Ti", Driver: 33165

Similarly, had the drivers, US English language default region setting, PhysX offboarded to CPU, etc. all tried, running 'low' on all graphic options. I don't have the hottest video card, but the rest of the system is powerful. DXDiag follows:
