I do that and the settings don't stay, or the game crashes in full screen. I'm forced to run it windowed/borderless if im lucky.

My in game settings were set to full screen when I encountered this problem.

Please learn that when users that likely have strong technical skills (based on the context that they are talking about an issue with a PC game) report a problem that sounds like it has an obvious solution, there is likely a more subtle root cause than something like enabling a full screen option.
I have the same issue as the author of this post and I am now going to try to restart Origin and my browser to try to play BF4.

I fixed this by uninstalling bing desktop. I was keeping it around because i liked the changing background, but it is definitely not worth having bf not work. I think it was forcing desktop composition issues with the search bar thing.
I've started having the same issue since patch.
(that and audio bug).
I do not have Bing desktop or Teamviewer and using latest NVidia drivers.
